Pre-dinner drinks

The Mister and I went out for dinner tonight which was lovely. Nice to have a bit of time to catch up with each other – even if we did spend half the night looking at photos of a cat in a cage as we thought someone had managed to trap Eric. sadly it wasn’t him.

We met up with Emma and Martin for pre-dinner drinks. Fab. Can’t wait until our holiday now.

2nd wife

It’s good to see that The Mister is being well looked after by his other wife.

This made me smile. I even delivered it.

Surrogate grandparents

Went to church this morning and I was singing so I accosted an old couple to look after the kids during the service…. actually it was my friends parents and they were more than happy to help!

What made me smile most was when my friend Emma arrived with her two children and they all piled in the same row of chairs together. It’s good to have surrogate family when we need them most! I hope they need us too.

Moody day

Today I was tired, tearful and slightly hungover.

I struggled all day and The Little Mister has been incredibly difficult. He has been rude and oppositional and just hard to manage and I have struggled because I am not at top of my game.

I cried in church, cried in the car and cried at home.

My friend Emma asked me and the kids out for a walk around the headland. It was just what I needed; blustery and blowy and a bit of a reflection of my mood but I felt much better when I returned.

I am very grateful for friends who hold me up when I am feeling down and who will walk alongside me when I am struggling.

Ahhhh I’m not really sure I am ready to do a whole year of photos again, but somehow I am reluctant to stop!

A nice walk today after a fab evening with plenty of wine. The fresh air certainly helped the heavy head!

Day 365

New Year's Eve

This pretty sums up my year. We spent it with awesome friends and their equally awesome children. We fed the small people early in the evening and then settled them down in pajamas in front of the TV whilst we ordered a Chinese take-away.

No matter what as been going on over the year I have grown to appreciate the value of my friends nnd family more than ever.

I pray that we will all have a happy and peaceful New Year and that whatever it might bring we are able to be kinds and generous to each others as well as to ourselves.

Day 362

Beach walks

These gorgeous, mild December days are perfect for beach visits and walks.

We had another lovely walk across Vazon with Emma and the kids. Unfortunately the children were less compliant in having their photos taken!

Day 361

Mum's grave

This evening we went to the house of one of Edward’s school friends. The kids ran riot whilst we drank fizz and ate nibbles. It was an awesome evening.

We walked up there so we could have a few drinks and knowing the kids would be tired we took the trolley with us. It is easier than listening to the whinging on the way!

We also stopped to visit my Mum’s grave on the way there – it is such a beautiful view from the cemetery – even a sea view!

Day 355

Christmas jumpers

Thank goodness we have made it to the end of term. Tired children and tired children and we are all ready for Christmas and a break.

After school we went to my friends house where the kids played, we fed them carbs and we watched a film and chilled out.

Good friends with excellent taste as we have matching Christmas jumpers, although we bought them completely independently!
