Day 305

Friends

Today has been an awesome day as our friend Tom and Anne and their three boys came up from Stockton-on-Tees for the day.

We met them at the railway station and then went to the Camera Obscura. It was a brilliant tourist attraction and first of all we went all the way to the top to see the camera obscura and take photos from the roof of the building. There are also loads of brilliant optical illusions and visual tricks through the rest of the building. We spent a very happy couple of hours in there.

We then walked to the Museum of Scotland again and spent a bit of time in there before going to a freezing cold park and ending up in a pub for a drink. We had booked a meal at Vittoria on the Bridge which was a fantastic restaurant.

It was so lovely to see these friends again – we haven’t seen them for about 15 months and yet we picked up exactly where we left off. We are fortunate to have friends that we are able to do this with. Safe travels and see you soon x

Day 280

Autumn walk

After yesterdays rainy weather today has been absolutely glorious.

We went for a fab lunch at friend’s house and then had a quick walk across the beach with their dog Penny. It was good to get out in the lovely Autumn sunshine. A lovely weekend but back to work tomorrow.

Day 257

Beach time

We are still making the most of some nice bits of the weather. The kids spent a happy few hours on the beach including some time surfing. We are fortunate to be so near such beautiful clean beaches and to have such nice friends to spend time with.

Day 246

Special... effects

Oops Emma and I have discovered that if you WhatsApp facetime each other then there are lots of ridiculous effects. The children thought it was hilarious.

Day 243

Castle Cornet day outWe have had some brilliant days out over these holidays.

Despite the weather being a bit mizzely we went out with the Worthington crew and took the bus into town, had a wander around Castle Cornet and had lunch in the grounds. Then it started raining so we decamped to a coffee shop for hot chocolates. Lovely day out with lovely friends.

Day 208

Godfather surprise

We had just got the kids into bed and there was a knock at the door. I was completely and utterly gobsmacked to see my two lovely friends Oj and Jonathan standing there. They are Eliza’s godfathers and I was not expecting to see then at all. I was literally speechless – that never, ever happens!!

Day 203

Barbecue surprise

As I was in St Albans my lovely friend Philippa arranged a barbecue so I could catch up with her family – when I lived in the area they pretty much adopted me and I spent an awful lot of time gatecrashing their Sunday lunches and family dos. I miss them a lot and it was brilliant to see them all.

The big surprise though was that she invited all the boys (who had been little shits and told me they were all unavailable!) to join us so it really was a wonderful party! Thank you to you all!

Day 201

Old friends

Today I travelled to St Albans with my dad, aunt and uncle as my cousin Tom gets married tomorrow.

The other bonus of it being on my old stomping ground is I got to have dinner with my lovely friend James. We worked out that we have not met up properly for about 5 years which seems completely crazy. Thanks to social media I feel like we know what is going on with each other’s lives.

We had a lovely meal and a much needed catch up. Blissful!

Day 176

Sunset gin

Another beautiful evening so when my friend Emma suggested a quick gin in a tin at the beach after choir I couldn’t say no. My alcohol intake seems to be significantly higher when the weather is nicer and I spend more time at the beach!

Day 159

Beach life

One of the best things about being in Guernsey is being so close to the beach. We spent a lovely time down there today. Pizza for the kids for tea – a perfect evening.
