Ready/ Fire!

Last day at home before heading off on holiday so in between a lot of sorting we went for a walk to the Fairy Ring with friends. The kids love playing on the cannons at the ‘castle’ nearby.

Viaer Marche

It was a beautiful evening at the Viaer Marche today. The big fundraiser for the Guernsey National Trust and it is a fantastic place to eat bean jar, Guernsey gache, Senners doughnuts and Guernsey biscuits.

The Little Miss and I really enjoyed having a look at all the craftsmen and women who were showing off their skills. She especially enjoyed watching the spinning.

Moody day

Today I was tired, tearful and slightly hungover.

I struggled all day and The Little Mister has been incredibly difficult. He has been rude and oppositional and just hard to manage and I have struggled because I am not at top of my game.

I cried in church, cried in the car and cried at home.

My friend Emma asked me and the kids out for a walk around the headland. It was just what I needed; blustery and blowy and a bit of a reflection of my mood but I felt much better when I returned.

I am very grateful for friends who hold me up when I am feeling down and who will walk alongside me when I am struggling.

Day 360

Boxing Day Swim

As is tradition in Guernsey we went to Cobo beach for the Boxing Day swim. It was a gorgeous day, mild and sunny and the beach was absolutely heaving. I have never seen so many people go in at this swim – over 700 I reckon.

It was bloody freezing but I went in and I even swam about a bit. The Little Miter is made of seriously stern stuff though and he skipped in and out of the water for ages – I am sure he doesn’t feel the cold at all!

Day 283

Referendum

Today I went and did my civic duty and voted in Guernsey’s first referendum. It was on island wide voting and unfortunately Option A got through.

This means that we will no longer be able to vote for just those who are standing in our parish, we will be able to vote for 38 deputies! Can you imagine how many manifestos we are going to have to read.

I can’t see it working out well for anyone really.

Day 255

Guernsey Air ShowGuernsey Air Show today and The Little Mister really enjoyed taking photos on his phone of the Red Arrows.

It was a lovely day, although a little breezy, and it was nice to take a couple of hours off to enjoy the planes with the kids.

Day 237

The Mister - 10 years onTen years ago today The Mister and I finally got our act together in the The Jesus Arms at Greenbelt.

So much has changed since then and we are living far away from where we first started. We have two wonderful (of rather demanding) children and busy jobs and lives.

What hasn’t changed for me is the love I have for him. Knowing that he will support me through thick and thin and the fact he is always there is terribly reassuring.

He is a wonderful, kind man who makes me smile a lot, infuriates me sometimes, but always makes me grateful he is by my side.

I love you Mister x

Day 207

Guernsey cow

Today the children and I went to the livestock show at the park. The Little Mister was whinging about everything (other than the cake I bought him!) and he was especially unimpressed at having to pose in front of this cow!

Day 205

Town carnivalThis week is Town Carnival and as I am off work I took the children in to see some of the music and activities.

The Little Miss was especially pleased with this dixie band who were playing in the market square. It was lovely to see such varied types of music being played throughout the town.
