2016 Project366 (Day 40)

The Little Miss' room

The Mister had a busy weekend of putting together furniture and securing it to the wall so it doesn’t tip over.

I think these wardrobes look pretty good although they are much bigger than we expected. Unfortunately they cover up some of the gorgeous wallpaper in The Little Miss’ room but we desperately need the storage!

2015 Project365 (Day 34)

WoodburnerThe weather is freezing! Cold and windy and generally a bit miserable.

This cheers me up no end though!

2015 Project365 (Day 33)

Home Sweet HomeI am so tired today that this is a bit of an emergency pic!

My mother-in-law gave me this lovely picture for Christmas.

I just need to find somewhere to put it! I need more walls I think.

2014 Project365 (Day 29)

Knitted cushion
Look what I got in the post!

My mother-in-law has knitted this wonderful turquoise cushion cover to match our new sofa. It’s gorgeous and looks fabulous with the sofa and the new cushions.

Thanks Beryl. I do have a spare cushion to cover if you have run out of things to do. Hint, hint!

2014 Project365 (Day 13)

New sofa!
We have a new sofa!!! It is deliciously comfortable and fits our room so much better than the previous bits of furniture we had in there. I have even tested it out by having a little nap. Very comfortable indeed!

Now all I need to make the lounge complete is a nice wooden toybox and a hearth rug.

2014 Project365 (Day 4)

Chest of drawers
A few days ago I bought a plain pine chest of drawers to put into our bathroom.

I decided that they would look much better white so spent a happy few hours in the garage drinking tea, listening to Desert Island Discs podcasts and painting.

I am really please with the result. I think they look much better white and the silver handles look much smarter. Now, what can I paint next?!!

2013 Project365 (Day 364)

Mantle clock
The Little Mister went to the childminder today and I spent a large proportion of my day cleaning the house and ironing. It’s not a job I love but it is very satisfying to see the end result.

My Dad gave us a handcrafted mantlepiece for our Christmas present and I am very happy that I can now feature Gran Nora’s 1050’s (probably?!) mantle clock on it. Also my cousin Beccy gave me these lovely tea light holders for my birthday. They match beautifully.

2013 Project365 (Day 352)

Christmas Fireplace
This year my Dad has given us the most wonderful Christmas present. It is this beautiful handcrafted oak fireplace surround made by our carpenter Brian.

We have been without a surround since we moved into the house and Dad decided this would be a lovely present. He is right. It is kind of a very ‘Dad’ present if you know what I mean and that means a lot.

2013 Project365 (Day 337)

Wood-burnerWe have had a wood-burner for nearly a year and we have yet to perfect the art of lighting it and keeping it alight.

Tonight I watched a YouTube tutorial and my fire is roaring away. So far, so good! I love sitting in front of a fire. It makes everything feel so cosy.

All I need now is our new corner sofa and the fireplace surround that my Dad is giving us for Christmas and our lounge will feel properly finished.

2013 Project365 (Day 297)

The Great EscapeWe have a cat flap that goes put of the back door but we also have a glazed door through from the kitchen to the utility room. So the cat could get through we took out one of the bottom panes of glass.

Unfortunately The Little Mister finds everything in the utility room absolutely fascinating, especially the cat’s water bowl. This was the sight that greeted me today. He had almost managed to get through but had kind of got marooned on his tummy and didn’t have any foothold to push himself through to the other side. Very funny!
