2012 Project365 (Day 12)

12 Jan 2012It has been such a beautiful day today, almost spring-like and I certainly wouldn’t think that it was January. I had a meeting in town today so took the opportunity to take a quite photograph of Castle Cornet from the car park. Castle Cornet was fortified from 1206 but has had lots of bits added onto it since then. It is now a museum and also holds functions, such as outdoor theatre there in the summer.

2012 Project365 (Day 11)

11 Jan 2012This lovely cyclamen lives on my desk at work and brightens things up for me. I gave one each of these to my work colleagues… of course I didn’t pay for them… they fell of one of my Dad’s lorries! Shhh don’t tell anyone!

2012 Project365 (Day 10)

10 Jan 2012Today has been a difficult day. I took my lovely little cat Delilah to the vet today as she had lost quite a bit of weight – in fact the vet said she had lost about 1/3 of her body weight. The vet has given her a pretty poor prognosis, even though he isn’t exactly sure what is wrong with her. I have to take her back tomorrow so she can have blood tests and x-rays. I have also to get a urine sample from her, which is easier than it sounds! The vet thinks she might have either renal failure or cancer, or possibly even diabetes. I have basically said that as she is an old lady I won’t consider any aggressive treatment for her, it just wouldn’t be fair.

I know it is just a cat, but I love her. She has been my companion for about 8 years and in some of my saddest times she has been there to offer me a nice purr, or a poke in the face with her nose. I will miss her curl up around my head at night when I sleep and waking me up by dribbling on my face. She has been a huge source of comfort to me over the years, but I know that we will have to do what is right by her if the news isn’t good.

Lovely Delilah.

2012 Project365 (Day 9)

Day 9 - 9 Jan 2012 Since I moved back to Guernsey I have been back singing with Bel Canto – I have blogged about it somewhere before. In February every year the Guernsey Eisteddfod takes place and the choir tends to enter. This year we are entering the folk song class and here is a section of one of the musical pieces we are doing. I can’t show you the whole piece of music as it might be secret! Needless to say, the song we are doing is complicated with lots of hand claps and thigh slaps. I am so knackered today that I am not sure I am going to be able to follow it tonight!

2012 Project365 (Day 8)

8 Jan 2012Today is my father-in-laws 70th birthday. We bought him a teeny tiny cake as he is not allowed to eat too much sweet stuff and we managed to find birthday candles with 70 on them. I am not sure the cake would have taken 70 actual candles as it was too small!

We have had a fabulous few days staying with the in-laws and we fly back home in a couple of hours. Tomorrow I go back to work and The Mister starts his new job. Exciting!

2012 Project365 (Day 7)

7 Jan 20121We have literally spent all day sorting out one of the bedrooms at The Mister’s parents house and we have done a really good job, even if I do say so myself!

We have cleared books, toys and vast quantities of comics. The Mister and his brother (although the I will blame the latter in the main) have collected all sorts of comics and they are all stashed in this house. Personally, I would have probably put the lot in the recycling, but I was forbidden to do so!

The Mister was especially excited to find his collection of bird skull and bones (gross) as well as various fossils and ‘pretty stones’. He is an avid collector of all things useless, but he persuaded me to let him keep the bones which are lovingly stashed in Ferrero Rocher boxes.

We also found lots of ornaments, evidence of The Mister’s childhood Egypt obsession and these cute little owls. I have posted a picture of these because I am almost certain that someone else recently posted a photo of something very similar, but I can’t remember who it was!

(In the background you can see The Mister sitting on the bed and sorting out his toy cars!)

2012 Project365 (Day 6)

6 Jan 2012The Mister and I have been really busy today clearing our one of the rooms at his parents’ house.

The Mister is a bit of a hoarder, although he will vehemently deny it, and in particular he loves to hoard books. Today I have spent a large part of my day attempting to get him to part with childhood books. I have not been all heartless though, I have let him keep all the Enid Blyton, Ladybird and Penguin books.

We have yet to tackle all the computer bits that are stashed under the bed as well as his collection of model figurines. I am just too knackered to carry on anymore today!

2012 Project365 (Day 5)

5 Jan 2012Yummy chocolate eclair. I promise that my Slimming World diet restarts next Monday when I am back home and back at work. I did share this eclair with The Mister though!

2012 Project365 (Day 4)

Day 4 - 4 Jan 2012This little cat is called Lucy and she belongs to The Mister’s Mum and Dad.

We bought Lucy as a birthday present for my father-in-law last year and despite the protestations from my mother-in-law of ‘I don’t want a cat’, she has become the talking point in the house and indeed life seems to revolve around her. I realised that she had settled in nicely when I saw a selection crocheted cat toys for her a couple of weeks after she made her appearance in the house!

She is a very sweet kitty but is a bit twitchy and scratchy at times but she is spoilt rotten!

2012 Project365 (Day 3)

3 Jan 2012One of the reasons The Mister and I are staying in Leeds for a few days is to do some serious shopping. Guernsey is rubbish for shops, and even worse, many companies won’t deliver mail order to the island. So, today we have shopped hard (we both hate it) and have managed to buy quite a lot of stuff, in particular clothes for The Mister’s new job.

Leeds has some really gorgeous architecture; lovely red brick buildings and details on buildings and the Victoria Quarter is probably the prettiest shopping centre. The buildings are over 100 years old but were restored in the 1980’s. They have done a lovely job and it now houses shops like Mulberry, Louis Vuitton and Swavorski.

This isn’t a terribly good photo and I think I look like a Weeble, but I hope you get the idea!
