2012 Project365 (Day 168)

Idiot catHappy Father’s Day! I suppose you are expecting a photo of my Dad today and a little tribute to him, but he is on holiday so I couldn’t take a picture. Suffice to say that he is a pretty fabulous Dad and I really appreciate everything he does for me and for us.

Instead here is a picture one of the true loves of Dad’s life, one of the cats. When Dad arrives home from work the cats generally get the best of his conversation whereas we get left with the one-word answers!

The picture makes me laugh because he is in such an odd position. From a side angle Billy looks like he is offering a Heil Hitler salute!

2012 Project365 (Day 167)

Yellow roseToday Bel Canto sang at a wedding at the very pretty St Saviors Church.

It was a really nice wedding although when we came out we were all nearly swept off our feet as the wind was so strong!

We all had these lovely yellow roses for our corsages and it is now cheering up the kitchen table.

2012 Project365 (Day 166)

An afternoon napToday I took the afternoon off work and took charge of my niece and nephew whilst my sister and brother-in-law went to a wedding.

We went out to the local garden centre where they have a soft-play area and we looked at the rabbits and the little blue lobsters for sale. We had a lovely time and it was so nice to spend some time with the kids on my own as they are really good company. It was all a bit much for Barnabas though and he needed a little nap with his plane to get through the afternoon!

An alterationOn the way out of the curry house last night I noticed this sign on the shop next door. I am assuming it is a play on words but one never quite knows!

Curried birthdayJust a very quick post tonight because I am tired. Tonight I went out for dinner with a few people to celebrate my friend Sue’s (“I hate having my photo taken”) birthday.

We had a fabulous curry and now I just feel fat not pregnant! It was a fab night, mainly with people I don’t know but had such a lovely time.

2012 Project365 (Day 163)

Pull along doggyThis little pull-along dog must be about 35 years old. We have photos of me dragging it up and down the garden path when I was about 2 years old. I tried to find the photo of me when I was little but was unsuccessful. He is a lot more battered these days and his ears seem to have broken in half but he has been very much loved. It makes me smile when I see my niece dragging him along these days.

2012 Project365 (Day 162)

11 June 2012I raced from choir to the beach to try and catch a photo of the most glorious sunset. The sky looked like it was on fire… unfortunately this was all that was left by the time I got there!

2012 Project365 (Day 161)

Squishy!Today has been another wet Sunday. My sister and the kids came over for lunch and of course The Mister shouldered some of the burden of entertaining them.

Eden continues to have spectacular tantrums which usually involve her throwing herself on the floor and rolling about wailing. She has a couple of splendid bruises on her forehead at the moment and she certainly is strong willed.

Eden has started walking a bit more confidently but she still especially likes going in and out of the conservatory door.

Guernsey FolkSorry this is late people. I really wanted to post a photo of the gig that we went to last night but we got back so late that the only thing I was fit for was heading to bed!

Last night we went to see Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson. They are a couple who play an unusual blend of blues and traditional folk. I think he is from Australia and she is Irish. They played at Sark Folk Festival last year and apparently were a massive hit, kind of obvious by the fact that the gig was a sell out!

I didn’t really know what to expect but was completely gobsmacked by her ability to play the tin whistle/flute/piccolo and the drums at the same time and then switch to singing without missing a beat. She also plays a rather impressive washboard! His guitar and banjo playing is pretty impressive too. Anyway, well worth going to see if you get the chance.

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get a decent photo of them but this will take you to a YouTube video. The picture is of their support act The Barley Dogs who are a local folk band that we really enjoy.

2012 Project365 (Day 159)

Charity QuizTonight The Mister and I went to a quiz in aid of Hope For a Child My sister is one of the directors of this charity and Hope for a Child do a brilliant job. Their aim is to support people in Uganda into sustainable living and empower them to be able to look after themselves. There is more info on their website if you want to have a further read.

The quiz was good…. made even better by the fact that we had the jammiest ever last round and guessed a couple of the last few questions and we won. On the picture we are third from the bottom, the team rather appropriately called ‘The Basket Cases’. We didn’t get a massive prize, but winning was what counted!
