2014 Project365 (Day 59)

Caritas Guernsey
Today The Little Mister and I met my friend Emma and her children for lunch at The Caritas Cafe.

Caritas is a charity and their mission statement is

“Caritas aims to establish a residential community which welcomes, supports and nourishes young people in difficulty, in the youth justice system, in distress or need, working with the land to grow self-esteem and change lifestyles.”.

Their website goes on to say that “Many young adults in Guernsey are experiencing a barren landscape: unemployment, poor education, family breakdown, drugs and alcohol abuse, homelessness, mental health problems, low self-esteem, eating disorders and self harm. It is indeed a bleak scene. But as with all barren landscapes there is the possibility for cultivation and growth. “

Caritas have had a market garden for a few years and they sell the produce at the farmers market but the community cafe is a new venture. It provides excellent food at low cost and it is such a lovely place to go. It is in Mill Street in the Old Quarter in Guernsey and we had a brilliant lunch there.

I am thrilled to see a project which supports and encourages some of our most vulnerable individuals and encourages them to grow and flourish. Brilliant!

2014 Project365 (Day 58)

Birthday GirlToday out beautiful, funny, entertaining and gorgeous niece is 3 years old. We popped down to see her and take her birthday presents.

The picture I posted yesterday was of the loveliest Tudor-style fancy dressing up frock. As usual Eden was being her usual tricky self and refused to put it on so I could take a picture, but I am sure I will get one soon.

I love this little girl. She is hard work at times but she is also wonderful.

Birthday present
Tomorrow my gorgeous niece is going to be 3! We have bought her the best present ever and she is going to love it!

Obviously I can’t post a full picture of it so here is a sneaky peak. Can you guess what it is?

2014 Project365 (Day 56)

Dangerous babyWe have a proper little climber these days. He is walking around and into absolutely everything!

He is up on the sofa, climbing onto the window ledge to wave to people and he climbs on chairs, and tables and almost everywhere else.

This stool lives in the kitchen but he pushes it around all the time and has started clambering on top of it.

I forsee some bumped heads in our future!

Light sabers!
After work The Little Mister and I popped in to see my sister and my niece and nephew.

The play between the children is becoming more violent as time goes on. Goodness know what they will be like by the time they are teenagers!

This is The Little Mister and my niece engaging in a small amount of creative play with light sabers. Right. No concerns about braining each other then!

2014 Project365 (Day 54)

BeachToday has been a busy day of catching up with bits and pieces of cleaning, tidying and cooking.

In between all this we managed a quick trip to the beach. It was a beautiful day although the wind was chilly but the sun was bright

It is days like this that I so appreciate living in Guernsey. It is a beautiful little island and we are never more than a few minutes drive from gorgeous beaches, parks and walks. Those simple pleasures are very important to us these days and we try to make the most of a bit of sunshine and get out and about.

Blessings
I know I have already put this picture on Facebook but I haven’t taken any others today that are any good.

I love this picture. My boy is getting so cheeky and he really loves his stupid pussy cat.

My sister and I were talking about how life is at the moment and we decided that life is

50% OK
30% brilliant
20% a bit shitty

Those percentages fluctuate a little but generally we are doing OK.

We are very blessed in so many way.

2014 Project365 (Day 52)

A spring walkI love having Friday’s off with my boy and because it was half term we went swimming with my sister and the kids and my cousin and her family. Having family nearby is great and I love to see The Little Mister interacting with his cousins.

This afternoon The Little Mister and I took a short walk to the park before taking our poorly pussy cat to the vet. She has a nasty bite on the back of her neck.

This picture was taken at the park. I think he looks a little pensive here but actually he was just concentrating on the ducks!

Spring is comingLook! Look!!

It would seem that Spring is coming.

Even in the garden I am starting to notice little flashes of yellow as the daffodils and primroses start to appear.

I love Spring. It is just such an optimistic time of year!

2014 Project365 (Day 50)

Beach wearToday has been slightly complicated today as my sister usually looks after The Little Mister but she and the kids have all come down with a nasty virus.

So, today The Little Mister has been looked after by my lovely cousin and then The Mister and I had to take some time off work.

So, an unexpected afternoon off meant that The Little Mister and I went to the beach with my friend Emma and her children. It was chilly but good to get out and The Little Mister is renewing his taste for sand nicely! By the summer he should be a connoisseur.
