2015 Project365 (Day 242)

Eric and Betty

Our family is expanding!

Today I went and picked up these two gorgeous pussy cats. The ginger one is called Eric and the tortoiseshell is called Betty.

They are lovely and naughty and sweet and have been utterly traumatised by a baby who wants to get in the basket with them for a cuddle and a heavy footed toddler thundering about. Tonight though they are racing around my living room and exploring.

It’s going to be a nightmare trying to keep them in but we decided that no time was going to be easy to get kittens so we might as well get on with it! We must be mad.

At least I might take photos of something other than my children!

2015 Project365 (Day 241)

Potty trainingNot the best picture but it made me smile.

We went to watch some of the Guernsey marathon today but as we are also potty training it meant that The Little Mister had to watch part of it from the comfort of his travel potty.

The joys of living with a 2 year old!

2015 Project365 (Day 240)

29 August 2015Another milestone for The Little Miss. Today we went to buy her first pair of shoes.

I had a pair in the cupboard but they didn’t fit her properly so we had to shell out on new ones.

Annoying that we couldn’t reuse a perfectly good secondhand pair, but look how cute these are?!!

2015 Project365 (Day 239)

Just chilling with my cousins

We have had such a lovely day. Lunch with my sister and friends and kids and then a trip to the beach.

My sister dropped my niece and nephew off in the morning so she could go for a run. In no time all three kids were naked and playing outside with the water table.

It made me smile to see the three of them running about with no clothes on. They look like some sort of Benetton advert because Barnabas is so suntanned and The Little Mister is still lily-white.

I love these three and I am delighted that they will grow up being friends with their cousins. Who knows what trouble they are going to get into together!

2015 Project365 (Day 238)

North Show

Spent a lovely afternoon up at the North Show with The Mister and the kids. There had been quite a lot of rain in the morning so the ground was quite soggy underfoot but it was fine. My poor Dad had been in the car park all day directing traffic. I think he was quite enjoying himself really!

This photo made me smile a lot. The Guernsey Majorettes wearing more unusual footwear than is typical for them!

After we had got the kids to sleep I went back to the show to meet up with Dad. It was so nice to have a bit of time with him on my own. We watched the fireworks together and just pottered around before going to the auction. It was lovely and entertaining.

I love the North Show, and I am adamant that we should support it otherwise we will lose events like this that are so important to our community. Well done North Show Committee. It was another fab show!

2015 Project365 (Day 237)

Buttermilk Battle

Well it wasn’t a entirely unsatisfactory day in the North Show baking tent.

I managed to back a second prize for my Buttermilk Cake, beaten by my aunt, but triumphing over my sister who got third. I thought she did pretty well to say she had never made the cake before!

I got a third for my Sweet Cake. I was not able to repeat my victory last year, but Auntie Jenny and Auntie Josie got their revenge this year by getting the top spots between them.

My muffins were a failure.

A good day. The weather has been wet today so the showground is pretty wet underfoot but as always it was good to get out and support our local event.

Competitive baking!

As soon as I got home from work today I started baking because it is North Show week!

This year I have entered….

Guernsey Sweet Cake
Guernsey Buttermilk Cake (which has the wrong quantities of vinegar in it!)
Christmas Muffins
Apple and Sultana Muffins
Vanilla and Chocolate Chip Muffins

I have taken them to the tent for judging tomorrow. Only time will tell whether my efforts have been worth it!

Water play

My mother-in-law and father-in-law bought The Little Miss this brilliant water play table for her birthday.

Of course The Little Mister is getting as much, if not more, enjoyment out of it at the moment but I can see it is going to be a firm favourite present!

My LovesI haven’t taken any photos at all today. So, here is a quick pic from our holiday.

One morning I woke up to this sight. My three loves, all sleeping in a row.

2015 Project365 (Day 233)

Harvest timeToday we harvested a load of fruit and veg from the garden.

Rather typically the thing typically the thing we get the best crop from is the apple tree which we don’t really do anything with and the blackberry bush which seems to be pretty prolific.

Looks like I am going to spend the next couple of nights peeling, chopping and freezing apples!
