2016 Project366 (Day 244)

Show shopping

Children’s shoes cost an absolute fortune and I was delighted to go to a local shop and find they have a sale on.

We are heading to the mainland in October so I didn’t really want to spend loads on shoes as I am hoping to visit the Clarks Outlet but annoyingly both kids have outgrown their shoes.

I bought this little lot of £35 in total which I thought was pretty good. Some of them are the next size or two up but I will stash them in the loft until they fit!

Herm Island

No photos from today as I have been run off my feet going from one meeting to the next.

Instead here is another photo of Herm Island. One of the most beautiful place in the world.

2016 Project366 (Day 242)

Beach timeSuch a shame that we had to pack up and go home today because the weather was absolutely gorgeous!

We managed to get a few hours on Belvoir Beach. The children and The Mister were happy digging holes and I managed to finish a book!

Whilst I feel tired a few days together camping in Herm was very restorative. The Little Mister made us laugh though when he walked into the tent and said ‘errrrr Mummy…. where do we watch television’? Erm….. surprise!

2016 Project366 (Day 241)

Just wandering

This weekend we have gone camping in Herm. It’s such a little island just off the coast of Guernsey but it feels like being a million miles away!

The only way to get around is to walk and despite the really blustery weather we managed to enjoy our wander.

I love this picture of the The Mister and The Little Miss. They have such a lovely relationship.

2016 Project366 (Day 240)

Sleepy babyIt is getting more and more unusual that The Little Miss falls asleep on me.

When she does I have to admit that I like to hold her for a while and feel her delicious weight on my arms and chest. There is something wonderful about having the chance to snuggle up and enjoy the non-wriggly moments.

Small and simple pleasures.

2016 Project366 (Day 239)

SunbathingAnother hot day today and the cats seem to find the best place to soak up the rays.

This spot in the greenhouse seems to be one of the favourites.

The children love this gentle pussy cat The Little Miss can often be seen attempting to ‘steer’ him with his tail!

2016 Project366 (Day 238)

GodmotherI really didn’t do a very good job today and took next to no photos.

It is lovely to have my cousin Stefi home for a while and she is The Little Miss’ godmother.

It is very sweet to see how much they make each other smile.

2016 Project366 (Day 237)

The winner

Well I was unceremoniously beaten by Auntie Jen, Auntie Cath and Auntie Josie in the buttermilk class. Auntie Jen won the chutney category and I only got a third for my sweet cake.

However, this delicious Coffee and Walnut cake won the class and beat my sister. Result!

2016 Project366 (Day 236)

Show baking

Guess what week it is by this photo?

North Show week of course and I have been busy baking!

The year I am entering a Buttermilk, Sweet Cake, Tea Loaf and a Hokey Pokey Coffee and Walnut Cake. I am also entering a Spicy Tomato Chutney and secretly hope to beat The Master chutney maker, my Auntie Jen. Very unlikely though!

2016 Project366 (Day 235)

One of those daysThis lovely article was in our local paper today and it featured the memorial garden that was built at the school at which my Mum taught.

I have to admit that I have had a really tearful day. I am missing Mum loads today and for some reason today I feel really sad. I think it shocked the children to see my crying as it doesn’t happen terribly often and The Little Mister asked me why I was sad. I was trying to explain that I missed Grandma because she had died and it is just such a hard concept to explain to a three year old!

At the end of September my Dad, sister and I are heading out to Greece for the anniversary of her death. I suspect my feelings today are tied up with this impending trip.

I miss her. Every single day. I wish she was still here.
