A year in pictures – Day 57

Tula loveNo picture from today but this one was taken yesterday whilst we were out and about in town.

The Little Miss still loves going in the Tula sling (well when she wants to anyway!) and she was so comfortable yesterday that she dropped off to sleep.

It is certainly good exercise having an additional 2 stone lump on my back. Now, if only I could lose that amount of weight I am sure my knees would feel better!

A year in pictures – Day 56

25 February 2017

Apart from The Little Mister having a complete meltdown in town and totally showing us up we had a lovely day.

We had lunch in town and then wandered up to Candie Gardens to go to the museum.

The garden is starting to look lovely and we saw a sweet little robin who hopped right across the path in front of us singing a sweet little song.

I love this view, The daffodils are especially lovely against the darkness the strong statue of Victor Hugo. Beautiful.

A year in pictures – Day 55

Cousins

It has been such a lovely day. We went to town this morning and this afternoon we met my sister and the kids and the mental dog at the beach.

It was gloriously sunny and quite warm and the children had a wonderful time haring around after each other, splashing in and out of the sea and chasing each other.

Living here is an enormous blessing. Making the most of this lovely weather and getting out on the beach is the best way to enjoy it!

A year in pictures – Day 54

Hello helloYesterday I decided to walk into town for one my my meetings. The parking was always going to be tricky and the walk did me good.

On the way back up the hill I came across this rusty iron gate and behind it was a lovely sweeping field with a small flock of sheep including some beautiful ones with velvety black faces and fluffy helmet heads.

There was also a couple of these handsome fellows. They were hugely curious and came over to the gate and let me stroke their noses. So sweet.

My Amazing Aunts

Today my wonderful Auntie Josie and Auntie Jenny are 75 years young. I have to admit that I have shamelessly nicked this photo from my friend Michelle but I thought it was lovely.

It would be pretty hard to overestimate how important these two ladies have been in my life. Growing up as a child they were present for much, if not all, of my childhood and many happy hours were spent playing with my cousins on the beach or at each others houses.

I have spent many happy hours drinking tea and wine with them and we always have a good game of Scrabble (it’s been a while though!). They are both pretty amazing cooks – Auntie Josie makes, without a doubt, the best profiteroles in the world. Auntie Jenny is the jam, marmalade and chutney expert and their puddings and cakes are more than acceptable. I guess my love of cake must come from them both, at least in part! They are definitely part of the reason that at family events we have such an epic dessert table!

They have always been like a second and third Mums to both me and my sister and I have appreciated them even more since my Mum died. Having amazing aunts is a huge privilege – they have supported me so much over the years and provided me with quite a bit of entertainment!

So, dear aging aunts. I love you very much. Thank you for all you do and how important you have both been throughout my life.

Thank you for all the cakes – they have been worth the weight gain. I love you both xxxx

A year in pictures – Day 52

From A Mother to Another

This evening I went up into the loft and found some clothes to parcel up for the collection which is being run by Jojo Maman Bebe kids clothing shop called From A Mother to Another.

The store is asking people to donate clean used clothes which will be sent to vulnerable Syrian refugee children in Lebanon and families in crisis in the UK and Ireland.

It’s dead easy, select an outfit of four pieces of clothing that you would be happy for your own child to wear. Place in a plastic bag with the age/gender/season on it and take it to a Jojo store. When you bring in two or more bagged outfits they will give you a £5 voucher.

To be honest it isn’t about the voucher, I really enjoyed putting together a little outfit. It made me smile to think another child may get to wear some clothes that my children looked so lovely wearing.

We have so much and being able to pass things on makes me happy.

A year in pictures – Day 51

On the Bus

This is The Little Miss’ favourite new game – unfortunately she wants to play it when I am cooking tea.

She collects all the chairs in the house and makes up a bus and I have to sit on the bus in the seat she designates is mine. If her Daddy walks through the door he also has to sit down where he is told.

This is all well and good but the cat was less compliant and the mini-dictator was not impressed!

A year in pictures – Day 49

Sunny Saturday

Absolutely beautiful weather today – things are so random, one day the island is shrouded in thick fog, the next day it is glorious sunshine.

I managed to get out for another lovely walk with my sister, my daughter, niece and the crazy dog. To be fair I was in a bit of a grumpy mood so a good walk in the sunshine did the world of good.

A year in pictures – Day 48

Spring has sprung

Oh I have felt so much better today! The wonder of drugs and a day of actually recuperating instead of trying to power on through.

It has been the most glorious day although there was thick, thick fog this morning which affected all the planes coming in and out.

This afternoon I met up with my sister and her mental dog and we had a lovely walk across the beach. It was warm and sunny and was a beautiful Spring day. Just perfect!
