21.1Tonight I went out to a murder mystery dinner with my sister, Dad and aunt and uncle. It was a little bit like a Saga cruise evening and Lou and I must have reduce the average age range by about 20 years.

However, we ended up sat on a table with a young couple who had rather hilariously been given this night out as a wedding anniversary present. We discovered through the course of the evening that we were probably distantly related to this couple, had several mutual friends and he and I both went to the same uni.

It ended up being a rather enterta8ning evening…. surprisingly!

20.1When we moved into the house there were some really random fruit bushes in the middle of the lawn. They were old and knackered but we decided to move them and see what happened.

There are about five gooseberry bushes and they are all growing beautifully now and starting to fruit. Not even sure what I will make out of the fruit – I don’t think I even know what gooseberries taste like!

19.1Finally I have started planting up our new veg beds.

I have planted courgettes, bush tomatoes, sugar-snap peas, runner beans, melon, cucumbers and lettuces. More to come though!

18.1Living near school is brilliant and it means that the kids walk to both ways. It’s nice just to have a few minutes to catch up with the kids and see what they have been up to.

This road is so busy though. It makes me a little but nervous at times as the car wing mirrors are so close to the kids heads!

17.1A while ago I ordered The Little Miss a new skirt from my friend Sophie who hand-makes fabulous clothes at Footprints on Forever.

It arrived today and she couldn’t stop twirling. I love it!

16.1This is the moment my amazing sister Louise absolutely demolished the course record for the Guernsey ultramarathon GY36. She completed it in 5 hours 33 minutes and 58 seconds smashing the course record of 6 hours 9 minutes. To say I am proud in an understatement. The course is crackers, starting with about 12 miles on the cliffs and then following the coast to the north of the island, and then hitting the East coast and a nasty headwind. They finish by touching the Liberation Monument.

My sister is an amazing athlete and person and I am so grateful that she is in my life. To make things even better my cousins’ wife Vicky came in as second lady – she ran an amazing time too completing the course in 6 hours and 46 minutes. Awesome work ladies.

Well done Lou. I am so proud of you but I still think distance running is a form of self-harm!

15.1

Out for dinner tonight with these two legends. My Dad, sister and I always go out for dinner on Mum’s birthday which is today, and the day she died which is in September. It’s a lovely way to remember her and spend some time together just the three of us. I love you both. Thanks for a fab evening x

13.1

I felt much better today and managed a quick walk with my lovely sister and her crazy dogs before we picked up school. I love our 20 minute speed walks around the block to school. It is a great opportunity to catch up and check in with each other.

14.1

I have found today really tricky. I am very tired and hormonal and I just haven’t coped at all well today. It is also Mum’s birthday on Saturday and I definitely feel it in the day or two leading up to it.

So, rather than going to do some exercise which would probably help my mood, but I am just too tired to do it, I sat with my kindle, a glass of wine and the cat. Sometimes practising self-care means taking a step back.

12.1Since she was about 3 The Little Miss has been seen regularly by the audiologist and the ENT Specialist. She has has two lots of grommets and today we went back to get her hearing tested.

Rather fabulously she was told today that her eardrums were ‘beautiful’ and her hearing was really good so she has been discharged from the specialist.

I was really proud to see her sitting and doing the test so happily – at the start it was a real struggle to get her to do it. She was fab today.
