11.1I love this girl.

Fierce and stroppy with a bit of a temper and a huge attitude. She will surely go far!

She is also gentle, kind and thoughtful. She is wonderful.

10.1

This evening we went to some more local theatre. A group called Music Theatre Guernsey are putting on a rather eclectic mix of performances, including Bake Off the Musical which we went to recently.

This evening we went to see Jonathan Harvey’s Beautiful Thing. I absolutely loved the original 1996 film and the soundtrack is just monumental and features music by Mama Cass and The Mamas and the Papas. I think I could pretty much sing the whole soundtrack!

The play this evening was so lovely, focusing on two young gay men, Jamie and Ste and their embarrassed, anxious and really charming comings out. It was so nicely done. Gentle and thoughtful and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The show was outside and it got a little chilly but with a snuggly warm blanket we were nice and warm.

Another great job MTG. You didn’t wreck one of my favourite films and I had a lovely night out!

Another day, another barbecue. This time with friends and their kids.

I love being with this bunch of people – some of us have known each other since school and it makes me smile to think that our children will have such long friendships. Hopefully their relationships will endure the years.

A fab afternoon. Good food and too much prosecco which made putting the kids to bed tricky!

This afternoon we had a fabulous barbecue with the girls and their families from choir.

It was such fun and the house we invaded had a swimming pool and a hot tub. The kids had a great time and spent most of it in the swimming pool. Someone described the hot tub as looking like ‘kid soup’ and I think when I took this pic there was 19 children in the hot tub.

Tonight we went to see the GADOC production of Annie.

It was absolutely superb – so brilliant – you would hardly know they were all amateurs. I was just gobsmacked how many talented people there are in the cast and the kids were all fabulous, not to mention the dogs!!! Amazing costumes and sets and production. It was such a brilliant night out.

This was the first time we had taken the kids to see a musical and they were just captivated. Despite a little fidgeting they were transfixed and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done GADOC!

5.1Today would have been Mum and Dad’s Golden Wedding Anniversary.

We had a lovely barbecue tonight at Dad’s house with as many of the family who could make it and some of Dad’s friends. It was lovely to see everyone and Mum would have thoroughly approved, especially of the dessert table.

Whilst we miss Mum terribly at times, and Dad does especially of course, we choose not to dwell on only the ‘what ifs’. We cannot change what has happened and what we will miss out on… instead we will celebrate what we had together and remember the happy and joyful times.

Mum would have been really proud of Dad. She would have been so happy that he is still living life fully and that he is happy. I know she would also have been proud of me and my sister – she was always so proud of us.

We continue to raise money through the Gill Langlois Legacy Fund to build schools in her memory – she would have been thrilled to know that children will be getting a better education because of her.

Happy anniversary Dad – we love you and think you are awesome.

A few weeks ago we had booked to go on a fishing trip on Out the Blue. It was rescheduled to today after bad weather and we had the most beautoful evening.

We went with Dad and my sister and her kids and we had a fab three hours in local waters, sadly the fish really were not biting very well. The Mister managed to catch one mackerel and my sister and her family managed to catch 5 mackerel as well as a couple of other types of fish.

Despite the disappointment of not catching much fish it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip. Warm and sunny and I definitely relaxed. Well worth it.

2.1For the last week we have had the pleasure of the Grandparents company! We haven’t seen them for about 20 months and finally they managed to get their double-jabbed selves over the the island.

It has been fab to see them – whilst technology is useful, FaceTime just doesn’t quite match up. This time they have been able to stay at our new house which has been really nice. The Little Mister shared his sister’s bedroom which seemed to work quite well, but I can hear them still messing about upstairs!

They head home tomorrow so hopefully we will see them again soon – let’s hope it isn’t so long next time!
