Day 3

Cat sofa

Betty has the right idea.  She is treating The Mister like he is a sofa in front of a roaring fire. Sensible cat.

A year in pictures – Day 1

New Year's Day

I uhmed and ahed whether to head straight into another year of photos but I know there are people out there who like to read my ramblings! This will be my fourth year of daily photos without a day missed so far so that feels like quite an achievement!

This afternoon we headed down to the beach with some foolish cousins who thought going for a New Year’s Day swim was an excellent idea. It was… shall we say… bracing!

The year has started. Who knows what it will bring. We have happy events planned but I am pretty sure there is likely to be some sadness on the way. All I know is that we will face all things together. Much love to all my wonderful family x

A year in pictures – Day 365

Happy New Year

We have had a lovely day and our friends Emma and Martin came for lunch along with their daughter Ava and The Little Misters bestie Maxi!

We had a lovely lunch and then dragged ourselves out for a walk around Fort Houmet. It was unbelievably windy but we were very excited to see a seal real close to shore.

The sea was gorgeous; huge waves and really wild but there is something about it that I love. Today the tide was high so the waves were coming up right against the fort and I could taste the sea on my lips. It smelt and tasted like home and I am grateful to be here, and especially grateful for such wonderful family and friends.

Happy New Year Everyone x

Climbing

The weather has been pretty awful. Wet with gale force winds but we managed to get out for half an hour between showers.

The kids were climbing up the big rocks at Grandes Rocques and it was reasonably sheltered. The waves were massive though. Lovely.

A year in pictures – Day 363

Happy holidays

One of the best things about being on holiday is spending all day in your pyjamas!

The Little Mister has spent loads of time today making up lego models. He is getting really good at it and can do most of them by himself.

Paper Dolls

The Little Miss loves the book called Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson.

Today she was desperate for me to make her some paper dolls like in the book which she then decorated.

A year in pictures – Day 361

Windy walkAnother lovely day spent with my cousin Tim and his family.

We took a short walk across the week – the wind was absolutely phenomenal and the sea had whipped up foam all along the shoreline!

Such a beautiful beach though, and it was nice to get out. I can’t take credit for this photo though – Tim took it!

A year in pictures – Day 360

26 December

As usual on Boxing Day we all went to Cobo Beach for the annual swim. This year I broke with tradition and decided to go in myself.

It was absolutely flipping freezing, but I have to admit I quite enjoyed it! I will not subject you of any horrendous pictures of me in a swimsuit though!

It was lovely to see the kids playing together on the beach. We love it in all weathers, regardless of whether it is warm and sunny or cold and windy!

A year in pictures – Day 359

25 December

Christmas Day and we had such a lovely day spent with family.

This morning we spent time chilling out in front of the fire opening presents. The kids were pretty excited although their biggest gasps were reserved for the fact that Father Christmas had been and he head eaten all the biscuits but Rudolph had only eaten half his carrot.

My sister and I cooked lunch at Dad’s house. We did a pretty good job although due to gossiping a lot and drinking a bit of prosecco we managed to overcook quite a bit of food. In the end it was a pretty decent meal.

This is what I appreciate most about Christmas Day, time with our family. As usual we miss Mum loads and life just isn’t quite the same without her but I think we are making a pretty good go at life without her.

Merry Christmas everyone x
