Week 10 – 6 – 12 March 2023

23

The week started with a nasty tummy bug for me and a day in bed accompanied by remaining two fur-balls. The Mister and I also had to go and collect our lovely Betty cat and bury her. There was some comedy moments when we got her back home and realised that she was absolutely frozen solid so that hole had been extended a little before burial could be completed. It shouldn’t have been so funny but it was a little bit Monty-Pythonesque.

The week has consisted of jigsaw puzzles, sewing on Cubs badges, music centre and a Cubs football tournament. We had Grade 2 music practice every morning and some tantrums over this but mostly it was a standard week.

I also went to a ladies weights class, and bought new leggings which made me happy and it was International Woman’s Day and I wore a tiara in the office.

I ended the week by having a run in with our granite fence post. The wall won.

Week 9 – 27 February – 5 March 2023

8It has been an incredibly busy week.

On Thursday I had to go into work really early as I had to do a report for court but the plus side is that I got to leave early and went to a charity afternoon tea. I was easily one of the youngest person there and I was sat at a table with my lovely aunt and her fabulous friends. It was great fun.

On Friday evening The Little Mister had Cubs and they went climbing and did archery. The Little Miss also started at a different Cubs troop. She had a fabulous time and there were a lot of people there from her class.

22At the weekend The Little Miss participated in her first gala. On the Saturday she came joint second for her age with her friend and on the Sunday she got two silver and two bronze medals. She thoroughly enjoyed it and she was really competitive.

We also squeezed in a family concert which was great fun… although The Little Miss had a nap half way through!

The saddest thing this week was that our lovely pussy cat Betty was hit by a car and her injuries were too significant for her to survive and we had to have her put to sleep. I wept buckets when I had to make the decision, altough I am quite sure we made the rights decision. I will miss her a lot. She was the cat who would always sit next to me, or one me, when I was watching TV and she would be found snuggling up with the children over night. For such a small cat she has left a huge hole in our life.

60

56A week of wins for The Little Miss who was delighted to win £10 for being the fasted 8 year old to swim 8 lengths with a kick board. She was so pleased with herself and I am throilled that she is really good at something.

A trip to the park, a couple of completed jigsaws and nightime cuddles with Betty the cat.

We are rich in so many ways.

The Little Miss is never happier at bedtime than when she is surrounded by cats.

I love it when they lie on her as it stops her getting up and down and mucking around!

This sweet little pussy cat loves curling up with The Little Mister.
She seems to prefer his bed to anyone else’s these days.

Lovely Betty – I love this sweet pussy cat.

Gentle and patient she is usually to be found snuggled up with one of the children. Don’t be fooled though, she is also a merciless killer.

Love her.

This afternoon I had to take the three cats to the vet for their annual vaccinations.

What was so lovely was that when we got into the consultation room the vet and her assistant let all the cats out and they were wandering about very happily. Fat Eric was charming as ever, although the vet said he is a little on the heavy side at 6.1kg. I think he is always worried about going missing again so it is his ’emergency weight’. He was so cute though.

Mabel stayed in her basket a while before exploring and Betty was constantly rubbing herself against the staff waiting to be petted.

We are lucky to have such good natured cats.

Just as well we aren’t worried about the pets sleeping on the bed. There was hardly room for The Little Miss in her bed tonight!
