Day 243

Castle Cornet day outWe have had some brilliant days out over these holidays.

Despite the weather being a bit mizzely we went out with the Worthington crew and took the bus into town, had a wander around Castle Cornet and had lunch in the grounds. Then it started raining so we decamped to a coffee shop for hot chocolates. Lovely day out with lovely friends.

Day 230

Fete d'Etai

We had a fab day out at a Medieval Festival at Castle Cornet.

The Little Mister even wanted to have a go at archery, and he was a pretty good shot.

Day 44

Castle Cornet

Another quick snap from yesterday as I haven’t had time to take anything interesting!

Castle Cornet is a beautiful building but this is a view you don’t very often get to see.

A year in pictures – Day 307

Castle Cornet

I have been on training today. Pretty good training as it would happen but it is definitely helped when you have this lovely view of Castle Cornet out of the training room windows.

A year in pictures – Day 112

Nice view

We have had a lovely, busy day. The Mister did a park run, the kids had music lessons and we spent some time in the garden tidying up around the veg patch and getting ready for planting.

We took a quick trip out for ice-cream and we sat looking out over Castle Cornet and looking at the cruise ship that appeared to be bigger than Herm.

A year in pictures – Day 105

Castle explorersBusy day again today. We went out to support The Mister running in the local park run. He did well – 8th out of 181 participants which I thought was pretty good.

In the afternoon we headed up to Castle Cornet which had some local history events taking place; storytellers, re-enacters and children’s craft activity. It was really nice to wander around the castle and take a but of time to explore.

In the evening The Mister and I went out with my Dad and sister to see a local amateur dramatics production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was brilliant and they had even managed to create a flying car. It looked as good as a West End Production. It was fab!

2016 Project366 (Day 325)

The day after the storm

The children have been pretty vile all day; tired and fractious and winding each other up and by default winding us up too.

Last night the weather was pretty awful, a big storm with winds of Force 10 gusting to Force 12. There were quite a few trees down and some flooding but it seemed like we needed to get out anyway.

We went out to Castle Cornet as there was a craft fayre and some Christmas activities, The fayre was good, the activities less so but it was nice to get out in the fresh air, and a bit of rain!

Nice bunkerThis photo was taken at Castle Cornet yesterday.

The bunkers around the perimeter of the castle have girls names engraved above them. Apparently they were named after German girls!

2013 Project365 (Day 91)

Noon Day Gun Castle CornetWe have had a lovely, if rather chilly day.

This morning we all traipsed out to St Peter Port to go to Castle Cornet as they had some Living History stuff going on. It was good but it was absolutely freezing but if you could find a sheltered patch in the sun it was lovely but the wind was bitter. The living History stuff was good but we didn’t see most of it as we couldn’t find them although there was a bloke playing an apothecary and he made Matthew cry after he suggested that he could be his apprentice but he would probably need regular bleeding. The boys also went and watched the firing off the Noon Day Gun so The Mister took this photo for me.

After that we went to watch the Hill Climb. We wandered through the pits looking at the cars and then we wandered up to the top of the hill to watch them crashing, or completing.

So, a really lovely day, bar the fact that we froze our backsides off. Not sure what we will be doing tomorrow, the beach maybe but it depends on the weather.

2012 Project365 (Day 208)

KPMG Castle NightTonight I went with The Mister and my parents up to Castle Cornet for one of their KPMG sponsored Castle Nights.

For four evenings in July/August the castle opens up for free and has musical acts performing. People are welcome to bring picnics and wine and just join in the atmosphere. Tonight we saw GU10, the The Houghton Weavers and ImaginJack who are pictured here. They are a duo who sing opera. He has a spectacular moustache and they were very entertaining.

A lovely evening out, and there is one more next week. Hurray!
