Week 24 – 12-18 June 2023

24.9

The in-laws went home and our cousin’s son James moved into Dad’s house to look after the kids – Susie loves him. he is really gentle.

24.5A busy week at school and work and then The Little Miss had an outdoor cooking session at Cubs. On Saturday I went to a ladies weights session on Saturday morning at 7.30am…. the kids had swimming and music and then we headed to the beach for the afternoon. It was gorgeous! Emma and I scooted off on our bikes to attend a concert in the rectory gardens. Very nice indeed.

Sunday was Father’s Day and we had a lovely relaxed day… then the news came… Susie has had kittens!!!! 7 of then which is amazing for her first litter. So we had very excited children and Mummy and headed down to see them before ending the weekend with a glorious high tide swim before bedtime.

Week 23 – 5-11 June 2023

23.5

It was a really busy week of kids activities and The Mister was marking loads of OU papers. Also the inlaws arrived so they pretty much had to fit in with whatever was going on!

Very important news though is that I made it to 2000 miles on Basil the Bike. I have had him about 15 months and have ridden him nearly every day – I am feeling pretty pleased that we have made it so many miles!

We have been keeping an eye on Dad’s cat Susie who is expecting babies… she is getting fatter and fatter. I am trying hard to keep Dad’s garden watered and not to let everything else die out. It’s not easy as it takes up loads of time…. but I do get to harvest some of the goodies like strawberries and sweet peas.

The Mister and I went out on Saturday evening to see MTG Guernsey do Spamalot. It was hilarious!

The kids also went with the inlaws to go and see the lifeboat, and I had to sing at a wedding. A very busy weekend 🙂

Week 14 – 3-9 April 2023

14

It has been a very busy and stressful week at work. Despite it being a 4 day working week it really felt much longer!

However, there were a couple of high points. On Monday my friend Hannah came to Guernsey on a day trip. We were very good friends when we were at school but I haven’t seen her for at least 20 years. We had time for a quick cuppa and a catch up and it was so very lovely to see her.

We had a busy week at school with cake sale, house matches and mufti. I also made it to another round number on Basil the Bike.

Easter weekend was lovely and Good Friday was sunny but breezy. The Mister managed to cut the lawn – a huge challenge as the grass was so long and I cleared up the pots and planted to potatoes. Eric supervised from his reclining position on the bench.

On Saturday evening The Mister and I went to see GADOC perform 9 to 5. It was brilliant and I loved the costumes- very early eighties with power shoulder pads, peplums and pleated skirts. They made me think of my Mum!

Easter Sunday at church was just lovely and I was particularly moved with the practice of flowering the cross. It was very moving.

Hallelujah! He is risen.

Week 10 – 6 – 12 March 2023

23

The week started with a nasty tummy bug for me and a day in bed accompanied by remaining two fur-balls. The Mister and I also had to go and collect our lovely Betty cat and bury her. There was some comedy moments when we got her back home and realised that she was absolutely frozen solid so that hole had been extended a little before burial could be completed. It shouldn’t have been so funny but it was a little bit Monty-Pythonesque.

The week has consisted of jigsaw puzzles, sewing on Cubs badges, music centre and a Cubs football tournament. We had Grade 2 music practice every morning and some tantrums over this but mostly it was a standard week.

I also went to a ladies weights class, and bought new leggings which made me happy and it was International Woman’s Day and I wore a tiara in the office.

I ended the week by having a run in with our granite fence post. The wall won.

This idiot likes to sit on the highest point in the bed – usually my hip. So, this is my view when I am lying in bed reading my book.

The Little Miss is never happier at bedtime than when she is surrounded by cats.

I love it when they lie on her as it stops her getting up and down and mucking around!
