A year in pictures – Day 358

Christingle

Had a nice day of Christmas food prep including cooking the turkey (gah – think I have overcooked it because I was so paranoid about undercooking it!) and making trifle.

This evening we went to the Christingle service at church. It was absolute carnage as usual and it always makes me laugh. We managed to escape unscathed without setting fire to anyone or anything. I class that as a successful outing!

Lieel Elf

My cute little elf was able to wear his Christmas jumper to school today as it was the last day. Super cute, he made me smile when I saw these pictures!

Christmas smellsIt’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!

I love mincemeat, especially the smell when it is cooking. Delicious!

A year in pictures – Day 315

Christmas craft

The weather today has been pretty rubbish and the kids have been going stir crazy indoors.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some craft stuff from a company called Baker Ross. We sat down together to make some Christmas cards and The Little Miss absolutely loved it but The Little Mister has the attention span of a cabbage!

Anyway, we managed to do some crafting and it was nice to sit and do something together.

2016 Project366 (Day 360)

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas everyone.

We have had a lovely day. This morning we had a leisurely morning opening presents and chilling out at home before heading to my Dad’s where my sister and I cooked lunch. I have to say it, but it was a really good Christmas dinner to be honest – Mum would have been proud! Before opening presents we went for a quick tramp across the beach.

We had a lovely day together but decided to head home when the children were starting to lose it because they were so tired. Sometimes you have to cut your losses!

I am so proud of my lovely family. Together we are strong and today is one of those days that we always think of Mum. This is our fourth Christmas without her and it doesn’t get any easier, I think somehow we just get better at doing all the stuff she used to do for us.

So, Happy Christmas to all our wonderful friends and family. Thank you for being a huge support over the year – I cou;dn’t manage without you all.

2016 Project366 (Day 359)

Light of the WorldThis evening The Mister and I took the children to the Christingle Service at church this evening.

Without a doubt Christingle is one of the strangest services in the church calendar. The Little Mister really enjoyed it this year and in fact his understanding about Father Christmas and ‘being good’ has really developed this year. I am also loving hearing him talk about The Nativity and Jesus and how the donkeys went to visit him etc. Sometimes it is like a random stream of consciousness but in the middle of it all there are some little gems. He is truly wonderful to be around at the moment!

So, this evening we reflected on the coming of Jesus, the Light of the World. I hope and pray that everyone has a wonderful and peaceful Christmas.

Christmas shopping

This evening my sister and I went to do the food shopping for Christmas day and some stuff for Boxing Day…. well we have already done a an order for M&S so this was just the rest… it was a very expensive rest!

We took it down to Dad’s house and he was told he had to sort out the drinks for the day. It would seem that he has done that. The wine cellar garage is stocked and we are ready to go!

Children's Nativity Set

This evening The Mister and I put up the Christmas tree and the few decorations we have. We don’t have loads, not because we are Bah Humbug! but the house is really small and it can make things feel really cluttered!

This year I bought this lovely children’s Nativity set from The Early Learning Centre. I love the fact that it is designed for them to play with.

2016 Project366 (Day 337)

Pre-School NativityToday I went with my mother-in-law to The Little Mister’s pre-school Nativity. He was a very proud and cheeky little donkey.

It was utterly charming and I was highly amused when The Little Mister tugged the hand of the teacher in charge and whispered to her at which point she said ‘Oh I have just been reminded that we appear to have lost the baby Jesus’.

It was a gorgeous Nativity and the children were hilarious. I love this pre-school. They love the children and The Little Mister has learned just so much. Thank you.
