Day 310

Holiday scrapbook

Over the week we have been away the children and I have been putting together a scrapbook of our trip.

I have done most of the putting together but Edward has done some rather wonderful writing and drawings.

Love it!

Day 307

Home time

Sadly we have come to the end of a fabulous weeks holiday.

We stayed in fab accommodation and enjoyed loads of different activities. The kids have (mostly) behaved themselves and Grandma, in particular, has relished the time she has had with them.

We have eaten loads, drunk too much booze but on the flip side have slept more hours than usual and had more time to read and chill out.

A truly successful holiday. Edinburgh has been good to as, and so has the weather. A brilliant time together.

Day 306

Dynamic Earth

We went to Dynamic Earth this morning. It was a fab day out and the whole thing was really well put together – well as long as you aren’t a committed Creationist that is. The blurb says “A visit to Dynamic Earth is like nothing else on Earth. It’s a chance to experience the primeval forces of nature as they shaped our planet, to journey through space and time and even go on a 4DVENTURE around the world. You’ll be embarking on the interactive adventure of a lifetime – the lifetime of our planet.”

We went to see a show in the show dome which was about stars and was really spectacular and then followed the exibit around charting the development of the world and everything in it. Brilliant.

The Little Miss hated everything about it though. She disliked the dark and the moving floors and the loud noises. The Little Mister loved the dinosaurs though – they were his favourite but I think!

Day 304

Edinburgh Castle

This morning we went to visit The Museum of Childhood. It was pretty but but there was this really freaky room full of dolls – it could have been the set of an episode of Dr Who where all these scary dolls came to life!

After lunch we took a walk and a wander up to the Castle where we had a look at the lovely view. We have been so lucky with the weather and it was another beautiful day.

Day 303

Edinburgh Zoo Panda!

We have been really lucky with the weather and today was pretty sunny although quite chilly.

We went to Edinburgh Zoo although I had a few reservations as some of the reviews were pretty awful.

I guess the downside is that it is set on a hill so you have to walk uphill a lot of the time to get anywhere. Also some of the enclosures are a bit tatty although they seem to be upgrading them all the time and some of them such as the chimpanzees were obviously brand new builds and looked fabulous.

The animals seemed really well cared for and we even saw a lion and a tiger. Of course the star attraction is the Pandas and I think the kids loved seeing them… almost as much as The Mister did!

Day 302

Royal Yacht BrittaniaAnother glorious day in Edinburgh and we went to see The Royal Yacht Britannia.

It wasn’t cheap to go and visit but it was brilliant to see the ship. The children enjoyed looking for all the Yottie Bears around the place. We followed up with a quick trip to the hell that is soft play!

Day 301

T-rex!Today we went on a Red Bus Tour and stopped off at the Museum of Scotland. It was just the most fantastic museum with exhibits ranging from Natural History, to machinery, to fashion and cars. Fabulous!

The Little Mister and The Mister were especially keen on seeing the TY-Rex skeleton!

Day 300

Manchester-Edinburgh

Grandma and Grandad arrived on the bus at Manchester Airport and then we caught the train up to Edinburgh.

It was just the most fabulous journey. The scenery was fabulous and I could have happily gazed out of the window all day.
