Week 26 – 26 June-2 July 2023

26.3

26.4A very busy week leading up to a very busy weekend.

On Friday The Little Miss had Cubs at the Bathing Pools. It was an unusually foggy day in comparison to the really hot weather we have been having recently but that did not deter the crazy people who spent ages in the pools.

Saturday was our busiest day yet as we had Music Centre Open Day. Both kids are still playing the violin but from September Eliza will be switching to play the clarinet. She is incredibly excited about this and is really looking forward to it. Having listened to Primary Woodwind at open day I am not uite as excited about the early days of learning!

On Sunday we had our annual church in a field. It was a beautiful day and my aunt and uncle came with us which was lovely. I love this church community. They are authentic and fun and they enrich my life.

On Sunday afternoon The Little Mister had a coasteering party with some of his friend. Such a brilliant activity for them all and Guernsey is the most beautiful place to spend time like this.

Week 13 – 27 March–2 April 2023

On Saturday The Little Mister took part in touch Ruby competition which was really good although they lost every match (I think!)

55Every week is busy but this week we had a few additional extra activities.

In the afternoon The Little Miss went to the Guernsey Music Centre to try out a load of instruments and see which one she fancies learning. She was determined to like the flute the best but came away with the clarinet as her favourite….. I am obviously delighted as this is the instrument I learnt to play. Fingers crossed she gets it!

We also had numerous swimming awards and on Sunday The Mister ran the Guernsey marathon. I think he found it rather a tough run today but he managed to finish in under 4 hours.

Roll on the end of this week and the start of the Easter Holidays. I am knackered!!!

Guernsey Music ServiceAs a child I was enormously privileged to be involved with the Guernsey Music Centre. I learnt to play the clarinet and I used to attend orchestras, wind bands and several choirs as well as having instrument and vocal coaching.

For many years most of my Saturday was taken with Music Centre but then again most of my friends were there so it was no great hardship.

The Guernsey Music Service is 40 years old this year and I was thrilled to be able to sing with my choir Bel Canto in one of the concerts and we joined with the Guernsey Girls Choir to sing several songs. Bel Canto originated in the Guernsey Girls and it makes me so happy to be singing with women I have sung with since I was 15. It’s wonderful.
