May books 2012

A few more this month, maybe because I had a couple of days off sick… and The Mister has downloaded loads of rubbish chick lit onto my Kindle! I really enjoyed the two books by Jennifer Worth that I read. Her observations about nursing in the East End of London were fascinating.

Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult
The Venus Conspiracy by Michael Cordy
Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth
Shadows of the Workhouse by Jennifer Worth
Sea Swept by Nora Roberts
Rising Tides by Nora Roberts

February books

Well, a very poor showing on the book front this month. It is very obvious that I am not doing nearly so much commuting these days…

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Schaffer and Annie Barrows. This was a re-read of this book and I love the story although I don’t think it is the greatest writing ever. This book is exciting though as obviously it is set in Guernsey and the film is due to be made this year starring Kate Winslet as Juliet. There has been a lot about it in the local papers as there were suggestion that it wouldn’t been filmed on the island. As expected there were a lot of complaints about this, and at least part of it will be filmed over here. I look forward to see what they so with the story, but expect the island to be flooded with American tourists!

The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. Not a bad book but not a patch on her first novel The Forgotten Garden!

November books 2011

Mined Where You Walk – The German Occupation of Sark: 1940-45 by Richard Le Tissier – this was a particularly interesting book as my Gran Nora lived in Sark during the occupation and she was interviewed for the writing of this book. She appears several times and it is fascinating to read part of her life.
Red Lily by Nora Roberts
A Good Girl Comes Undone by Polly Williams
Blindman’s Buff by Faye Kellerman
Flawless by Tilly Bagshawe
A Death in Tuscany by Michele Giuttari

September books

I am sure I have read more than this during the month but I haven’t kept a very close eye on it!

Born in Fire by Nora Roberts
Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani
Encore Valentine by Adriana Trigiani
Black Rose by Nora Roberts

As you might be able to tell, I have needed books that are no-brainers. It has been such a busy month I think I needed reading material I could switch off to when reading!
