Day 303

Edinburgh Zoo Panda!

We have been really lucky with the weather and today was pretty sunny although quite chilly.

We went to Edinburgh Zoo although I had a few reservations as some of the reviews were pretty awful.

I guess the downside is that it is set on a hill so you have to walk uphill a lot of the time to get anywhere. Also some of the enclosures are a bit tatty although they seem to be upgrading them all the time and some of them such as the chimpanzees were obviously brand new builds and looked fabulous.

The animals seemed really well cared for and we even saw a lion and a tiger. Of course the star attraction is the Pandas and I think the kids loved seeing them… almost as much as The Mister did!

Day 302

Royal Yacht BrittaniaAnother glorious day in Edinburgh and we went to see The Royal Yacht Britannia.

It wasn’t cheap to go and visit but it was brilliant to see the ship. The children enjoyed looking for all the Yottie Bears around the place. We followed up with a quick trip to the hell that is soft play!

Day 301

T-rex!Today we went on a Red Bus Tour and stopped off at the Museum of Scotland. It was just the most fantastic museum with exhibits ranging from Natural History, to machinery, to fashion and cars. Fabulous!

The Little Mister and The Mister were especially keen on seeing the TY-Rex skeleton!

Day 300

Manchester-Edinburgh

Grandma and Grandad arrived on the bus at Manchester Airport and then we caught the train up to Edinburgh.

It was just the most fabulous journey. The scenery was fabulous and I could have happily gazed out of the window all day.

Day 299

And... rest!

Today we caught the plane to Manchester Airport and we are staying in a hotel overnight.

By the time we arrived the children were starving and we thought we would order room service… but there was an hour and a half wait. Instead we headed to the bar, ordered kids meals for the children and booze for the adults.Thank the Lord for their new Kindle Fires too!

The evening went much smoother after that!

Day 296

Care Parcel

Today I received this wonderful little parcel in the post.

My Mumsnet antenatal group is still live and kicking and we are good friends on FB. One of them knew that I have had a tough week and sent me through this fabulous little care parcel. I genuinely have no idea who sent it but thank you whoever you are!

Day 295

Big Cousin Bec

Today my beautiful (and oldest!) cousin Beccy turned 50.

It hasn’t been an easy year for her as both her Mum and Dad passed away earlier this year, however she has done amazingly well. We gathered together as a family yesterday to have cake and tea and to celebrate but today was her actual birthday

I am super proud of Rebecca the Wrecker…. she will always be a special cousin to me! x

Day 294

Young Guns vs Old Timer

Today we went to my cousin Beccy’s house for a cup of tea and cake for her birthday tomorrow.

As is fairly typical, there tends to be children careering around the place, or fighting somewhere. In this case it was the the old arm-wrestling pro Uncle Rich putting the young upstart Joe in his place. Experience and technique matter apparently!
