About me

My family

I am Anna, a just turned 40 year old woman living in Guernsey. We have been here 5 years although I am a local born and bred! Life here is wonderful but has it’s ups and downs as living on a small rock in the middle of the English Channel always does.

I live here with my husband and our two children age 3 years and 19 months. I like to think I am a Christian of the non-mental variety and I am also a social worker working in substance misuse.

Historically my blog has been a place where I can muse about life, the universe and other matters of vital importance such as sexuality, faith, sewing, craft-stuff, reading and day-trips out. These days I try to post a picture every day as part of the 365project but they are often short posts. Working full-time and having two small children is busy and challenging but I love it!

So, welcome and please leave a comment for me 🙂

Hi there – thanks for your sweet and kind words about Sunbathing Naked. I like the book, but it has proved to be a hard sell. It is good when I see people have enjoyed it. I am writing another book now about pheasant shooting narrated by a pheasant. keep well, guy

Hello Guernsey Cow, I don’t know quite how I stumbled upon your blog, but come across it I did. I was enjoying reading about Guernsey and feeling homesick for my Sarnia Cherie, when lo and behold I think to myself…”that’s a picture of Noel’s mum’s house”. So small world that it is, you must be related to my good friend Noel! Or more accurately, my dad Mike Cunningham’s good friend Noel.
I also can empathise with the loss of your Gran. My Nan died just a few weeks ago, leaving her 8 children, 17 grandchildran and 27 great grandchildren without that central matriarch. It’s a strange place without her.
So anyway, I enjoy your blog, and reading about Guernsey just makes me want to be back there more than ever.

  • Hello Emma. Glad you found your way here… always nice to meet a fellow islander. Noel is my uncle, my Mum’s brother… so now you know.

Hope you keep enjoying the blog.

    A la perchoine.

    Hi,

I found your blog a while back from Petersons site and I have really enjoyed reading it over the last few months. I was especially pleased when you found the mister and have been interested to read about your involvement with inclusive stuff etc and your evangelical but now liberal background( if I’ve got that right?)

I will look forward to reading more of your story and you are one of the blogs I follow on my blog list.

  • Hello Emma – we are just back in the door (which is in Edinburgh) from Guernsey – my sixth visit and my wife’s umpteenth.

Anyway – twice within a couple of days on Google your blog has popped up. (Your marketing skills must be good!)

At a quick glance, this looks like fun -even as we speak I am clicking this into a bookmark.

This morning I woke up and thought I was still in sarnia – and seconds later was sad that I wasn’t. So this makes up for it.

By the way – liberal christianity is the place to be!!! (I don’t normally do directive spiritual direction! -:) )

Hello Auntie! I came across your blog a little while ago and have been meaning to get in touch. I’m an anthropologist looking at Christian women online, and would love to ask you a couple of questions about your blog. I can’t find an email address for you on here but if you’d be willing you can email me at the address I’ve given.
Also, congratulations on the engagement! Hope the moving is not too stressful. I moved from one side of Brighton to the other recently and that was bad enough.

Came by your blog as a result of a link on the BBC website relating to The Young Ones. Seems we both enjoyed it. And now I’m here I’m noticing you’re rather into crafts … A marvellous discovery what with the craft season approaching. 🙂

Like many others I’ve stumbled across your blog. As I live in Jersey I was interested in your visit. Thought I must say that aMaizin! Adventure Park was starting a big build last year, you must check out the website to see the new indoor area which opened today. It really is amazing and a huge change from the fencing we saw last year!

  • Hi Anna,
Hope all is well with you, you haven’t posted for a while. I do love the way you write about Guernsey and your family, with such love. I recently read a big chunk of your blog about meeting your Mister and having your lovely children. It reminds me of when my kids were little – now almost 20 and 28.I cam via Ship of Fools where I am a lurker. The website I’ve sent you is for a Charity operating here in Oz. I’m no longer associated with them, but you can see I am not a bot. All good wishes to you. Cathy
