A year in pictures – Day 325

Little fishyMy Little Miss is definitely a little fishy!

She collected another swimming badge today. Mummy had better get sewing them onto the towel again!

Music

Back to choir today and one of the topics of disussion on the island is the suggestion that funding for the Guernsey Music Centre is to be reviewed.

As a teenager most of my Saturdays were spent at Music Centre. I had the fortune of having clarinet and singing lessons, as well as playing in orchestras and wind bands. The music service in Guernsey has always been amazing. So many children have had the opportunities to develop their musical abilities and that would be an absolute travesty if that stopped.

So, all that I learned as a child I still use today. Being part of a choir taught me to be part of a team, to listen to each other, to take instruction (mostly) and to laugh a lot. It taught me discipline and patience but more than that it is great for my mood, mental and physical health and my social life.

Music certainly makes the world go around!

A year in pictures – Day 323

Old friends

Not only did I get to meet some new friends this weekend I also got to catch up with an old friend!

I have known Neil for about 20 years, since the days I lives in Hertfordshire!

We had about an hour together, drinking coffee and catching up on all the gossip.

New friends, old friends… all of them make me happy!

Weekend with Strangers

This has been a wonderful and very unusual weekend.

When I was pregnant with The Little Miss I joined an ante-natal group on Mumsnet. At some point we switched from there to Facebook and about 60 of us have stayed pretty good friends over the last 4 years.

I find it amazing that the internet can be so powerful. We have shared so many things together, joys and sadness as well as plenty of laughs. It has been amazing to be able to share concerns about our children and to have someone to talk to, who has often been through similar experiences.

About 16 of us met up for the weekend in Brighton. We rented a house and spent a decent proportion of the weekend wearing pyjamas, drinking prosecco or tea and playing Cards Against Humanity.

I feel like I have known these girls for ages. Oh yes… it’s because I have. The online world is a very real and very important place for me. These people matter to me and I am hugely grateful that we have met and continue to share our lives together.

Duck Nativity

This weekend I am in Brighton and I found this fabulous shop selling rubber ducks.

My favourite display was this duck Nativity scene. Genius!

Christmas smellsIt’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!

I love mincemeat, especially the smell when it is cooking. Delicious!

Fashion icon

The Little Miss is an absolute fashion icon. She loves clothes and especially swishy dresses. This is less than conventional but I think she rocks it!

The girls

Me and my girl.

She infuriates me and makes me smile but she is without a doubt my mini-me!

Glorious!

It was the most glorious sky today as I left work. Even out of the office window and over the roof of the mental health block it was truly gorgeous.

A year in pictures – Day 316

Brave boy

So today at church The Little Mister had an incident and bashed his chin against the corner of the coffee table.

It was deep enough for me to be concerned and we had a little trip to A&E.

At the time I took this photo he was behaving himself and was happy to talk to the nurse. However, this all changed when she mentioned gluing the cut and he went absolutely CRAZY! In the end she used a few steri-strips and hopefully that will be enough to stop it scarring.

He is so stubborn when he does not want to do anything.
