Happiness and sadness

We have had a beautiful day of football, music lessons, exercise classes and finally a few hours in the garden.

The Little Miss and I went to the shop to get some food and then we stopped on the way home to leave some flowers on Mum’s grave. I remember her every day, not just special occasions like Mothering Sunday but this weekend is especially tough.

The Little Miss has the school bear with her today and wanted her picture taken with Grandma. That made me cry but she was so matter of fact it also made me smile.

Day 315

Cakes

One more photo from last night.

So many people made and donated cakes to sell last night at the quiz.

You know who you are. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you xxxx

Day 314

Epic Quiz

This evening I was helping at a quiz for my sister’s charity.

It was a really brilliant, if somewhat exhausting, with a fab turnout.

People never fail to amaze me with their generosity and willingness to participate in quizzes and other events.

Lots of money was raised and everyone had a good time. Win win.

Day 269

Charity Zumba StrongThis evening my sister invited me to a charity Zumba Strong event.

I cam safely say that I hated it – too fast, too much up and down and too much like hard work!

However, they raised plenty of money for This is Epic so well done!

Day 185

My Epic WeekThis week it is My Epic Week – raising money for the Guernsey Cheshire Homes and This is Epic.

The local leisure centre has had various events going on all week and they have these display stands there.

I asked the kids to strike a pose – The Little Mister outdid them all!

Day 127

World Aid Walk

Today was Bank Holiday and the World Aid Walk day. This raises money for several charities on the island including This is Epic so I went along to help out my sister with some photographs and social media bits and pieces.

My niece and nephew walked it and they make me smile such a lot.

Day 14

FamilyIt was a long trip home – about 24 hours door-to-door going from Uganda to Dubai then to Gatwick and finally back to Guernsey.

I managed to stay awake until about 7pm and then had to go to bed. I almost fell asleep in a restaurant at lunchtime but woke up a little with a quick walk on the beach.

I have missed my wonderful family. It is good to be home.

Day 13

Wonderful Iganda

Time to leave Uganda but it has been just the most wonderful trip ever.

I have been humbled by the people I have met and I am in awe of their resiliency, humour and generosity.

I will be back.

Day 12

Family

This lady was a complete inspiration. She had 8 grandchildren and she was looking after all of them as their parents had died of HIV.

She borrowed some money to build a new kitchen as when it rained all her ‘pots filled with water’. She was wonderful and joyous. So inspiring.

Day 11

Smile!

We visited a couple of fantastic schools and the children were completely fascinated by the cameras and phones as they could see the photos as they were taken.
