Greenbelt friendsOh it is always such a sad day when we get to the last day of Greenbelt. It is my favourite weekend of the year and I will miss these guys so much.

These are friends who I met online. We have grown together, been to each other’s weddings and seen our children grow up.

We might not meet very often, not even every year, but when we get together it is like nothing has ever changed.

It’s wonderful.

Kids Greenbelt

The kids have had the most wonderful time at Greenbelt this year. The Little Mister has loved playing games on The Lawn – he has only been returned to us twice by the Found Children’s Team!

The Little Miss has spent a lot of time in the shade, sitting and colouring and she has loved the Make and Create Tent.

There really is something for everyone.

Camels at GreenbeltThis morning The Little Mister said… ‘er Mummy… there’s camels on the campsite’.

To which the response was ‘oh don’t be ridiculous…… er… ok….. there really are camels on the campsite’!!’

This year’s mainstage communion took the form of a Christmas Nativity Service. There were kings and Mary and Joseph and soldiers and even the local Salvation army Band playing Christmas Carols as we walked from the campsite onto the festival site. It was amazing.

Hot hot hot!

The weather has been absolutely crazy, Last week was really wet and this week is incredibly hot – high twenties at least I reckon!

As a result we haven’t been able to see as many things as I would have liked – it has just been too hot. Instead we had done a lot of this; sitting in the shade with friends, listening to music drinking gin, reading books and watching the kids run about. It’s wonderful.

Greenbelt!!!!

Such excitement today when we arrived at Greenbelt. I love being here – I like to think of it as my spiritual home! Its a wonderful safe, exciting place to be and I miss it every year we cannot attend.

Tonight after the kids were in bed and friends were back at the tent I snuck out to the mainstage to watched Lucy Spraggan. My hopes were not too high but she was absolutely fantastic. She seemed to be loving playing live and she and her band were brilliant.

A year in pictures – Day 241

29 August 2017

Such a sad day. We had to pack up our tents and all our camping equipment and get ready to go out separate ways.

I have appreciated spending time with our friends so much. By and large I don’t feel like I miss out on anything by living in Guernsey but I miss people more than anything! Having 10 days with some of our best friends, and then a long weekend seeing even more of them has been so wonderful.

I feel restored, rejuvenated and reconnected. That’s what makes Greenbelt special.

This picture is of nearly all of the children (minue one!) who we were camping with. I love it. Missing you all x

SuperheroesI have some wonderfully bonkers friends – these are two of them.

A mother and daughter superhero duo.

Wonderful friends who I haven’t seen for years but with whom I can pick up where I left off.

A year in pictures – Day 239

My lovesWe have been incredibly fortunate with the weather this year and Boughton House is a really gift when the weather is beautiful.

There is plenty of lovely shady places to sit where the kids can run about and play together.

I love this photo. It sums up all the wonderful things in my life, and as Greenbelt is where I met The Mister it seems very appropriate.

A year in pictures – Day 238

Visitors!Today we had one very wonderful visitor to Greenbelt.

This wonderous man is one of The Little Miss’ godfathers (the other one also turned up the next day!) and I was not expecting to see him at all.

The chance to spend some time together, chilling out, relaxing, talking, laughing and just being all together. This is what makes this festival truly special.

A year in pictures – Day 237

GreenbeltWe haven’t been the Greenbelt for four years and I was beyond excited to be here!

The kids were excited to be at the festival, making new friends and listening to the music. Wonderful stuff.
