LIBERATION DAY

9.1We had a wonderful day spent with friends. We started off with our yearly swim on Liberation Day in honour of Pearl who was arrested by the Germans for swimming whilst the island was occupied. It was a beautiful day for a swim.

We then headed to Emma’s where we met up and walked down the road and set up for a lovely picnic and watched the cavalcade. We headed back to theirs afterwards for a shared meal with friends and the kids played in the garden.

There have a been a lot of complaints from people across the island that there were not big events in town this year. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the more low-key chilled out parish events. Whilst I undersand that some people like the big crowds, funfairs etc, we had a lovely day remembering and being grateful for our friends and families and those who fought and won our freedom.
