2014 Project365 (Day 27)

Compassion UKThe weekend just gone included Compassion Sunday.

Compassion is a wonderful organisation that is involved in child sponsorship programmes around the world. As a family we have a child in Haiti and we try to write regularly to her and we get letters back from her as well. We know that the money we give to her every month supports her education and welfare and that of her whole family.

In order to promote the Compassion my Dad arranged an event and brought over a woman called Rose who is from the Philippines but now works as a nanny in London. She was a Compassion child and she has the most wonderful story. She spoke at church yesterday morning and also at an event tonight.

When Mum died we wanted to set up a legacy project which we could support as a family and fundraise for. The project that Compassion have identified is in Burkina Faso and it is building two classrooms which will serve over 300 Compassion children. It is such an exciting project and should be completed by the end of the year. The cost of the whole project is just over £11,000 which is very little really.

Mum would have loved the project. She would have approved 100% as it is educating and changing the lives of children. We hope that Dad will be able to go out towards the end of the year for the opening and one day we will be able to take our children out there to see the project that bears Mum’s name.
