Week 22 – 29 May – 4 June 2023

22.21

Our final day at the campsite was a little grey and murky so we dragged the kids out for a nice walk through the lanes followed by an icecream and then we had a barbecue in the evening. We’d had such a fantastic, relaxing few days camping with these guys. We are fortunate to have good friends who have kids the same age who all get on.

22.3The rest of the week was half term and and the kids went to Outdoor Guernsey for three days. They had a wonderful time including Nerf wars, archery, cricket and other team games and coasteering. The Little Mister has been coasteering before and was pretty nervous, but this time he has gained some courage and was jumping off some higher leaps. The Little Miss on the other hand is completely fearless and there is a terrifying picture of her leapoing off the tallest jump!

For June the weather has been really disappointing. There has been a chilly Northerly wind so the temperatures are still relatively low. I did have a lovely walk with Emma on Saturday evening and then we had a swim before church at the Bathing Pools though which was chilly but delightful and then my sister and niece came for lunch. A fab week.

Week 21 – 22-28 May 2023

21.9

21.1My week started with hitting 1900 miles on Basil the bike and going out for dinner with friends which was really nice – what was less nice was the hangover on a work day. Not a good idea!

The Little Mister went on school camp for two nights. They had amazing weather and a fantastic time – he had one night to bathe and sleep at home and then we went camping again!

The rest of this week was all about preparing for camping at the end of the week. My shopping mostly consisted of sugary cereal, crisps and other snacks and booze.

On Saturday we went to stay at Fauxquets Valley Campsite which is a fantastic campsite about a mile from our house. The facilities are immaculate, it has a swimming pool and animals. We wee camping with friends so in total there were 13 adults and 12 kids and it was fab.

The kids spent most of their time buying sweets, careering around on their bikes, playing in the games room and swimming. They had a wonderful time. The adults spent most of their time reading their books and drinking booze. We had a wonderful time 🙂

On Sunday we walked to The Fleur du Jardin where we had booked a table for 21 as some xtra families joined us. The staff had set us up a fantastic private room with place names and we had our our balcony for drinks. They were brilliant and could not have been more helpful.

A fantastic end to a fantastic week.

Day 238

Camping hot chocolate

The kids have had a fab time camping and have developed a rather healthy love of hot chocolate.

The perfect way to stay warm before bedtime!

A year in pictures – Day 236

Blackberry pickerToday we packed up and left the campsite and the kids mainly entertained themselves by playing with the children from the next door tent.

The Little Miss also worked out that the blackberries on the bushes are absolutely delicious!

A year in pictures – Day 232

Fire starter

One of the best things about this campsite is they have some fab firepits ready for a roaring fire!

Mrs Day is our resident pyromaniac so she was happy.

2016 Project366 (Day 245)

1 September 2016

Another one from this weekend.

I love this photo of the children having their breakfast.

Whilst they wind each other up loads and fight they are really good friends and love each other.

2013 Project365 (Day 234)

Beach babeToday (Thursday) was a glorious day so we all went to the beach at Borth. This is a big beach with lots of space to run about so was brilliant with the kids.

I took loads of photos in the day but this is one of my favourites. This is Annie, she is my friend’s daughter and she loves the beach. By the end of the day she was head to toe in sand and I was told she had to be showered at least twice to get rid of it all! A lovely day, and a great way to end our holiday.

2013 Project365 (Day 233)

21 August 2013Today (Wednesday) the weather was grey and mizzely. So, we trundled off to a soft play area this morning, had lunch at birdie’s house and then went swimming in the afternoon.

The Little Mister has been swimming a couple of times but he absolutely loves being in the water. It is so funny to see him kicking away and the only reason we drag him out of the water is when he starts going blue!

Hopefully the weather should be a bit better tomorrow.

2013 Project365 (Day 232)

Vale of Rheidol Railway Steam TrainToday (Tuesday) we all went on the Vale of Rheidol Railway Steam Train which went from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. It goes through some of the most beautiful countryside and it takes nearly an hour each way so it feels like you get your money’s worth!

Devil’s Bridge itself is really touristy and we had a decidedly average lunch before walking down to the Punchbowl which is where the river has hollowed out the side of the gorge into a bowl shape.

In the evening we had a barbecue at the campsite. Food, wine and friends. As my friend Sian would say… lush.

2013 Project365 (Day 231)

Bwlch Nant-Yr-ArianDay 231 – Today we went to visit the Bwlch Nant-Yr-Arian and we went on a lovely walk around the reservoir in the morning before having a picnic lunch. The kids happily played on the playground and then at 3pm we watched them feeding the Red Kites. I reckon that there were a couple of hundred kites and it was amazing to see them swooping down and gathering their food. Amazing.

Over the other side of the park is this amazing viewpoint down across the valley to the sea. Fabulous.

Then Tom and The Mister took the eldest three children on a long walk back to the campsite. We expected them home in about an hour but I think it took them 2.5 hours. They were all a bit tired but it was a lovely walk!
