4.1

I felt really rubbish last night and my friend Emma persuaded me to go for a swim.

It was utterly glorious at Cobo and I felt like my brain was reset when I went into the cold water.

I really needed that swim!

Good Friday and I took my sister and her family to the airport as they are off to London for a few days. I had intended to go for a swim on the way home but there was thick fog… so I decided to go later…. and there was still thick fog so I dumped the kids at Dad’s and went anyway. It was fabulous! I reckon there was about 30 people swimming at the time – so lovely to see so many people in even if it is only April!

The day has arrived – our houseguests finally get to escape the rock after thei extended Covid-induced stay.

It has been lovely to have Tom and Mark to stay and there have been some lovely parts of their lenghtened stay – I have to admit though that I am quite looking forward to getting my house back now though!

This afternoon we met up with Emma and the kids and had a lovely. but definitely chilly, swim at the Children’s pool at he bathing pools. I am really enjoying swimming in these pools this year and I reckon I have been in more times this year than in all the previous years I have been alive!

The Little Miss went back to school today – she couldn’t get out of the door fast enough – and I headed to Cobo for a quick swim before starting work this morning. It was absolutely lovely down there and the sea felt relatively warm. A glorious start to the morning.

Mark is also now out of isolation so The Little Miss and I met him and Tom at Cobo tearooms for a nassive slice of cake. They had been for a lovely walk before they return to the UK tomorrow. We stopped in to see my Dad and his kittens on the way home. Such cute little balls of fluff.

3.1

A really busy day for the adults in the house with online meetings and online teaching. The kids generally did pretty well with some school work and then a bit of art and stuff in the afternoon.

I snuck out for a lovely lunchtime swim and went to the Gent’s Pool in town. I have never swum here before and was surprised that the water level in the pool was so low. It was a lovely but chilly swim. I am sure the water temperature feels lower in the pools than it does in the actual sea.

A rather different swim today. I met my friend Emma at Cobo and we went for a swim in the rain.

We left all our stuff in the car and had a lovely swim – the water was genuinely lovely and we were in for a good 10 minutes or so. Makes me feel absolutely fantastic!

Whilst the kids were at a church youth club we took the opportunity to head for a swim. We managed to work out which pier was going to have the tide coming over it and Rousse was just perfect tonight!

A gorgeous, restorative swim. Perfect end to a tiring week.

Day 360

Boxing Day Swim

As is tradition in Guernsey we went to Cobo beach for the Boxing Day swim. It was a gorgeous day, mild and sunny and the beach was absolutely heaving. I have never seen so many people go in at this swim – over 700 I reckon.

It was bloody freezing but I went in and I even swam about a bit. The Little Miter is made of seriously stern stuff though and he skipped in and out of the water for ages – I am sure he doesn’t feel the cold at all!

2014 Project365 (Day 360)

Boxing Day Swim

This morning the children and I went to Cobo beach to watch all the nutters of Guernsey do the polar bear swim in aid of the Guernsey Cheshire Home.

My brother-in-law went in along with my cousin Stefi and my niece and nephew. The Mister wasn’t able to go this year due to having to work.

This year the tide was really high so there was only a few metres of beach for the swimmers to stand on before they went in. Most of the spectators had to watch from the sea wall which made it a really different atmosphere.

2013 Project365 (Day 246)

ParadiseToday I finished work at 4pm, picked up The Little Mister to give his Dad a break and we went down to the beach to see my Mum and my niece and nephew.

It was absolutely gorgeous down there today. Sunny and hot and the sea was so inviting, what a shame I didn’t take my swimsuit. All was not lost though, Mum took off her swimsuit so I could put it on and go for a swim. It was a fabulous swim as well!

(We’ll not mention the fact that Mum lost her knickers and found them on a bush on the way back to the car will we?)
