Today I popped into town to take some meds back to the pharmacy for work. I thought it would be a quick trip unfortunately when I came down the steps I realised that there was a massive line of people in uniform and I was unable to get the car off the pier.
Today it was the Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey, Air Marshall Peter Walker’s thanksgiving service. He died very unexpectedly a week ago at the age of 65. He was much loved by islanders and he and his wife had thrown themselves into island life and being the Queen’s representatives on the island.
The service was broadcast on tannoy in town and it was lovely to see all the people in uniform, as well as so many people lining the seafront.
The Governor will be much missed, as will his wife. RIP Air Marshall Walker.
