2016 Project366 (Day 142)

The Little Pig Farm

This morning we took the children to a local smallholding to feed their pigs. I was hoping that they would have piglets but apparently we need to go back in August if we want to see the babies!

The kids were a little bit wary but the pigs were pretty huge to be honest. They also had plenty of chickens and some Indian Running Ducks which are probably my favourites. They are so funny.

We really appreciated being shown around The Little Pig Farm by Eddie who was clearly enthusiastic about his animals. Nice to see such well cared for animals.

Friends

This afternoon The Little Mister’s friend came to play. We had a lovely time in the garden and they helped me with the weeding before filling up the water table and letting them get a bit damp. Inevitably The Little Mister ended up wearing just pants and wellies. Classy.

Strawberries

This year we built a new strawberry patch and transplanted out the plants from the main bed. They have grown at a rate of knots and now we have load of little weeny green strawberries. Just as well we all love them. I think the challenge is going to be stopping the kids eating them whilst they are still green!

2016 Project366 (Day 138)

True loveThis picture makes me smile. The Little Miss absolutely adores her pussy cats and fortunately the kittens are pretty tolerant of her.

Eric is pretty big now but she still tries to pick him up and give him a cuddle. He tolerates this. Our children are lucky to have pets to cuddle and the cats are lucky to have children to look at disdainfully!

2016 Project366 (Day 137)

Apple blossomIt has been another beautiful day but pretty much the only time I got to enjoy it was when I was out hanging out the washing at 6.30am!

Things are springing to life in the garden and our apple tree is no exception. The blossom is just beautiful at the moment and I love taking a quiet moment first thing in the morning to appreciate it.

2016 Project366 (Day 136)

MumWe have had a lovely day and the weather has been kind to us. We took the kids up to the aeroclub open day to look at planes and then managed to persuade them to have a nap in the car whilst The Mister and I spent a glorious hour drinking coffee and reading our books whilst gazing out to see. Perfect!

We had lunch with my Dad and sister and her family. Today would have been Mum’s 66th birthday. I miss her so much. Her smile and laughter and the way she would always encourage us and care for us. It is the small things I miss about her. The chance for a shared crossword puzzle or a walk or even a five minute chat on the phone.

This photo was taken on the last birthday she was alive for. She looks so content and she was, cuddling her third grandchild whilst watching the oldest two grandchildren roll down a slope. These are the unplanned, happy and content moments I miss.

Happy birthday Mum. I love you.

2016 Project366 (Day 135)

DIYI have been feeling really off-colour today and I have a bad headache that I haven’t been able to shake for days.

The Mister spent some time building our new barbecue today, ably assisted by his lovely ‘helper’ and his screwdriver. We will look forward to using it as much as possible over the summer!

Friends

The children and I have had a lovely day. This afternoon we went to our friends Andy and Gillian’s house to chill out and sit in the garden whilst the children played.

It was a beautiful day and I love watching The Little Mister and his friend Isaac play together. If all goes well they should go to the same school which will be nice for them. They are so alike, both in looks and temperament that at times I forget which one I am telling off!

2016 Project366 (Day 133)

Art

A little while ago we unexpectedly had some money given to us and we decided to spend it on a couple of pieces of original art works. We really enjoy buying pictures that mean something to us and bought a couple whilst on honeymoon.

There is a local artist called Wendy Griffin and I have always admired her work when she features it in the local eisteddfod and it was lovely to be able to buy some of her work.

This was my favourite. It is an oil painting and I think the colours are just lovely. I am delighted with it!
