The church I attend runs a cafe on Thursdays and Fridays most weeks and I have been asked to bake for the every month.
These cute little Victoria Sponges are my contribution and I took some to work. I can confirm they taste pretty good!
As soon as I got home from work today I started baking because it is North Show week!
This year I have entered….
Guernsey Sweet Cake
Guernsey Buttermilk Cake (which has the wrong quantities of vinegar in it!)
Christmas Muffins
Apple and Sultana Muffins
Vanilla and Chocolate Chip Muffins
I have taken them to the tent for judging tomorrow. Only time will tell whether my efforts have been worth it!
I am completely shattered tonight! For some completely insane reason I agreed to make 200 cupcakes for the church family tent on Liberation Day on Saturday.
I must have been drunk when I agreed to it!
Anyway. They’re are all done and sorted although I wouldn’t class them as my best ever work.
Now I am ready for bed!
It was a gloriously beautiful day today. This morning we went for a walk to the Fairy Ring with my sister, a friend and my aunt and all the kids.
This afternoon we met up with my friends Emma and Ellen and their children and we walked to a local nature reserve. Such a warm and beautiful day and Emma and her daughter Ava had been busy in the kitchen and made some delicious chocolate cakes. A little picnic of cake and coffee finished off our day nicely.
I can’t believe that I am now on the home straight to going back to work. The time has just gone by so fast.
Today was the start of our local show, the “North Show” and I decided to enter three cakes; a fruit cake, a Buttermilk cake and a Sweet cake.
My Mum always entered along with her two sisters and the competition was hot! Usually we are at Greenbelt so not able to enter but this year I though I would enter in her honour.
I have never made Sweet Cake before so asked Auntie Josie for the secret family recipe which she duly provided. Last year Mum won the class (I think) but this year I won, beating my two aunts into second and third. To say I was delighted was an understatement.
Mind you, they both beat me in the Buttermilk class!
