Week 12 – 20–26 March 2023

40

This week The Little Mister had hos Grade 2 violin exam – he has been practicing hard for weeks. I think he was a little bit wobbly so we will see if he has passed. We promised him that if he worked hard he could have a treat and he requested a meal out at China Red so we took him and his sister and our lovely friend Kayleigh out. It was a delicious meal.

Eliza went to Cubs this week and they had an Eygptian night so they all dressed up – her friend James went as a Sphinx which really made me laugh.

We also had parents evenings and both kids are doing really well. The Little Miss’ teacher waxed lyrical about hos marvellous she was and how helpful, compliant etc she was at school. Of course when we got in the car she refused to get out of the front seat and was shouting her head off. Oh! The irony!

I also went to the Eisteddfod exhibition and took a pic of my friend Elise’s gorgeous embroidery, I went to two partied on Saturday night and The Mister took a photo of my which my sister described as ‘making me look a member of the case of Willow’.

On Saturday morning I went to weights and worked hard and The Little Miss and I have matching shoes. A good week.

31.1Every weekday morning before the kids are allowed TV they have to do their violin practice and get dressed and ready for school. It’s the only way to get it done… it can be a little challenging if I haven’t consumed enough coffee though!

25.1Half term week and this afternoon I took the kids to the cinema and our friend came back for tea with her cute little mindee.

The Little Miss insisted on giving him a violin recital. She is really getting quite good these days.

25.525.4Today was an extremely busy day. Both kids had Music Centre Open Day.

The Little Miss was on first and had Primary Choir which was fantastic – she has complained wuite a lot over the last few weeks about going to practices but since she saw me rehearsing with my choir she has been much happier to attend. They were absolutely brilliant. `She then had Primary Violins and made a really great sound. I am very proud of her for working so hard at her violin.

The Mister then went to pick up The Little Mister from Cub Camp. He wet wiped him down and put him in uniform and he went and performed with Junior Strings. After the assault on the ears that was the woodwind and brass group before them they were fantastic. Really good sound and The Little Mister looked so comfortable playing his violin. I was very proud of him.

We are so grateful for the wonderful Guernsey Music centre and their staff. We are fortunate to get such high quality musical education and I love the fact that at least twice a year, no matter what level, we get to hear them perform. Wonderful.

After the open morning The Little Mister was returned to camp to continue with activities such as Tomahawk throwing.

22.1

The Little Mister has been practising hard (and often resentfully) for his Grade 1 violin exam which is scheduled for Friday.

At the moment we have a lot of wailing in the morning but I hope he carries on with it. He really is very musical and quite talented,

10.1The Little Mister continues to do well at his violin lessons – he is now starting to practice for his Grade 1.

Whilst he needs a little persuasion at times to practice he continues to maker good progress. I hope he continues as he seems to be quite musical

19.1This was my breakfast accompanist.

I had only had one cup of coffee by this point.

I love her, but I was under caffeinated.

Back to music lessons for The Little Mister and I am in awe of the teachers and how they control a bunch of tricky 7 and 8 year olds. This was the group running about identifying the notes and whether they were crotchets, quavers or semi-quavers. Fabulous stuff.
