Auntie Knows Best

It has been a very busy and stressful week at work. Despite it being a 4 day working week it really felt much longer!

However, there were a couple of high points. On Monday my friend Hannah came to Guernsey on a day trip. We were very good friends when we were at school but I haven’t seen her for at least 20 years. We had time for a quick cuppa and a catch up and it was so very lovely to see her.

We had a busy week at school with cake sale, house matches and mufti. I also made it to another round number on Basil the Bike.

Easter weekend was lovely and Good Friday was sunny but breezy. The Mister managed to cut the lawn – a huge challenge as the grass was so long and I cleared up the pots and planted to potatoes. Eric supervised from his reclining position on the bench.

On Saturday evening The Mister and I went to see GADOC perform 9 to 5. It was brilliant and I loved the costumes- very early eighties with power shoulder pads, peplums and pleated skirts. They made me think of my Mum!

Easter Sunday at church was just lovely and I was particularly moved with the practice of flowering the cross. It was very moving.

Hallelujah! He is risen.

Such a glorious cycle to work this morning after I had dropped the kids at holiday club.

Sunny and unseasonably warm.. Just beautiful.

Today is World Car Free Day and I cycled into the office.

It made me really happy to see the huge amount of bicycles that were parked up at the hospital. They really are going to need some more bike racks at this rate.

Still going strong on Basil the Bike. Hoping I will get in a few more cycling weeks before the weather turns.

My love affair with Basil the Bike continues.

I have been cycling to work as much as possible and there is one thing that absolutely drives me crazy.

Outside the office there is a bike shed with cycle hoops so that bicycles can be locked up safely. For some reason the people who ride these motorcycles think it is acceptable to park their machines in here taking up most of the spaces.

I have complained about it and just get a shrug from the porters. It drives me nuts.

Today Emma and I took some of the kids and took part in a charity bike treasure hunt.

It was great fun although we got lost a few times. Emma and I were ok on our electric bikes but the kids had to work quite hard – I think we cycled about 15 miles. It was fun and The Little Mister was shattered and went to sleep really fast!

I was sat at my desk at lunchtime watching the most torrential rain falling and hoping it would clear before I had to leave on my bike to go and get the kids from school.

It didn’t stop. I cycled home with the bike on turbo and when I got back I had to strip all my clothes off – I was soaking!
