Week 11 – 13 – 19 March 2023

37

This has been a busy week but one full of good things.

The Little Miss took part in the Eisteddfod and she recited a poem – she did brilliantly and had lovely, kind comments from the adjudicator

The weather was good enough to have lunch in the garden at the weekend and we had a handsome, but stupid, male pheasant visiting the garden.

On Saturday I managed a fab cycle, swim at Horseshoe Pool with my friend Emma and then a trip to church for a green event which was lovely. So many people to catch up with.

The weekend ended with Mothering Sunday. Always a day of mixed emotions but one in which my sister and I talked a little about Mum whilst going out for dinner and visiting her grave with the children.

We have so many blessings and so much to be grateful for.

Week 10 – 6 – 12 March 2023

23

The week started with a nasty tummy bug for me and a day in bed accompanied by remaining two fur-balls. The Mister and I also had to go and collect our lovely Betty cat and bury her. There was some comedy moments when we got her back home and realised that she was absolutely frozen solid so that hole had been extended a little before burial could be completed. It shouldn’t have been so funny but it was a little bit Monty-Pythonesque.

The week has consisted of jigsaw puzzles, sewing on Cubs badges, music centre and a Cubs football tournament. We had Grade 2 music practice every morning and some tantrums over this but mostly it was a standard week.

I also went to a ladies weights class, and bought new leggings which made me happy and it was International Woman’s Day and I wore a tiara in the office.

I ended the week by having a run in with our granite fence post. The wall won.

Week 9 – 27 February – 5 March 2023

8It has been an incredibly busy week.

On Thursday I had to go into work really early as I had to do a report for court but the plus side is that I got to leave early and went to a charity afternoon tea. I was easily one of the youngest person there and I was sat at a table with my lovely aunt and her fabulous friends. It was great fun.

On Friday evening The Little Mister had Cubs and they went climbing and did archery. The Little Miss also started at a different Cubs troop. She had a fabulous time and there were a lot of people there from her class.

22At the weekend The Little Miss participated in her first gala. On the Saturday she came joint second for her age with her friend and on the Sunday she got two silver and two bronze medals. She thoroughly enjoyed it and she was really competitive.

We also squeezed in a family concert which was great fun… although The Little Miss had a nap half way through!

The saddest thing this week was that our lovely pussy cat Betty was hit by a car and her injuries were too significant for her to survive and we had to have her put to sleep. I wept buckets when I had to make the decision, altough I am quite sure we made the rights decision. I will miss her a lot. She was the cat who would always sit next to me, or one me, when I was watching TV and she would be found snuggling up with the children over night. For such a small cat she has left a huge hole in our life.

Week 8 – 20-26 February 2023

2021

22Half term week and I have been off work for three days which has been lovely. Generally I have felt absolutely knackered but it has been good to have some time with the kids.

This week they have been at a holiday club which does swimming, cycling and other sports, They have had a fantastic time as ever, and their cycling skills are improving loads and they are getting much more confident on the road. Thank goodness!

The kids also had a climbing session with an instructor and my friend Emma and I managed a quick swim at Port Soif with my cousin Beccy. It was freezing but lovely.

We also went to visit my lovely Auntie Josie who was 81 and Eliza made her this fabulous card.

Week 7 – 13-19 February 2023

16

13It has been a difficult week at work and I had a bit of a meltdown by the end of the week. I managed to pull myself together and survived but not without completely losing it at work.

Signs of spring are appearing all over the place including these gorgeous bunch of daffodils just outside my front door.

I ended the week having a lovely sea swim in the Bathing Pools in aid of Guernsey Mind. I have really lost my swimming mojo over the recent months but I thoroughly enjoyed this swim. Hopefully I will be able to get back out there a bit more now.

Week 6 – 6-12 February 2023

1.2

1.4It has been a lovely week. The weather has been mainly clear and there are signs of spring everywhere. We have also had some truly gorgeous sunrises and sunsets – my Mum would have described them as ‘glorious’! I have enjoyed being out on Basil the bike all week. Commuting to work is much more enjoyable when it isn’t in the car!

We went out for a choir meal on Monday and then I went out with some social worker friends on Wednesday. Ut was lovely to spend time with different people.

The local paper featured a lovely article about my Auntie Doris who was a bit of a local heroine in WW2 when she ran a soup kitchen.

The week ended with a school disco and a visit from my cousin and her kids. A lovely week.

Week 5 – 30 January – 5 February 2023

60

56A week of wins for The Little Miss who was delighted to win £10 for being the fasted 8 year old to swim 8 lengths with a kick board. She was so pleased with herself and I am throilled that she is really good at something.

A trip to the park, a couple of completed jigsaws and nightime cuddles with Betty the cat.

We are rich in so many ways.

Week 4 – 22-28 January 2023

53

51It has been a quietish week and we have just ticked along with work and school and the usual child activities such as swimming, Cubs, Brownies and tennis.

By Saturday both kidlets had horrible streaming cols so whilst I managed to make it to Ladies Weights the kids stayed in all day. In the evening The Mister and I went out for a lovely meal. Table booked for 6.30 and home by 9am. A perfect evening out for a couple of tired parents!

They were a little better by Sunday which was good as it was The Mister’s birthday. I cooked a nice roast dinner and friends came over. A good week.

Week 3 – 16-22 January 2023

43This week has included a poorly Little Miss, a busy week at work and school, Betty the cat bringing her offerings to The Mister and leaving them in his shoe.

The Little Miss also had to do the Kick Challenge at swimming and she completely smashed it – the competition was who could swim 8 lengths with a float and short fins and she managed to do it in 3 minutes 31 seconds. She completely turned it on!

The Mister also squeezed himself into his tux and went out to a work awards do and on Saturday I went out with Dad to a charity ball. We were all shattered by Sunday but it was a good week. I discovered the Little Miss had been taking selfies with my phone with me asleep in the background.

Week 2 – 9-15 January 2023

22The weather this week has been atrocious, wet and very windy.

The week has been the first full week back to work and school which means after school activities are back with a vengeance! Swimming, dyslexia day centre, tennis, music centre and youth club.

We also had the kids first trip to the opticians. They were absolutely fantastic whilst they were in there and then they started behaving like absolute eejits in a shop afterwards.

I had Ladies Strength class at 7.30am on a Saturday morning (true dedication), shelf building and out weekend ended with the fastest ever Cub Scouts AGM (7 minutes) and bingo.

Sunday night ended with online book group with my old university friends and we exchanged Secret Santa gifts. It was a fun evening.

It was a good week.
